He menu specifies gluten free option if requested. I requested it, the woman even pointed it out on there menu but as I reflect, she must think it means it is gluten friendly as is because what I got made me so sick. I double checked the receipts afterwards and there was no mention of my request so I just got the regular items, which made me sick. Avoid it.
(update) - looks like two options pro wei original chicken and sweet and sour chicken. ***must request gluten free*** did not try since corn is now out for me and found another allergen menu online for another location that indicate both had corn. Near gate C19
I ordered Sweet & Sour Chicken, starting it needed to be gluten free. The person taking orders really had no clue what I was asking her. What I got did not appear to be GF and my receipt had no indication that it was supposed to be GF. Not wanting to end up with problems, I ended up letting my wife have it. As she ate it, she said I had made the right decision, and that she didn't think it was GF. I'd be very careful here, or avoid it altogether.
I can confirm that the only GF dish is the Spicy Chicken (which can be made non-spicy) - it comes with carrots and peapods and can get either white or brown rice. Of note: chicken is fried in soybean oil - you can ask them to stream it in chicken broth (which took a while to confirm that was GF) and you can ask them to serve the non-spicy chile vinegar sauce on the side (quite sugary in my opinion). An hour later I was still doing fine and it was delicious! The only bummer is that it did take a long time to order as I made it clear that my ordering GF was not a fad but a medical necessity. It did seem a bit of a sting that in my take out bag there was a fortune cookie (definitely not GF) - makes me wonder how educated the workers are about GF though I think the person who bagged my order didn't know I was GF.
I 've had Pei Wei at the Minneapolis airport and love it. I was very excited to see it was here. Unfortunately, they were closed at 8p. they were the only restaurant closed on the concourse. Very dissappointed. I did get a good GF meal at ChopHouse, but very pricey.
Horrible experience. Their menu clearly marked an item as GF. I ordered it and had a few bites. It didn't taste right, so I returned to the counter. I was scolded that I had to request the item GF, even though there was no indication a request was needed. The menu clearly stated GF, not a GF option. Took a lengthy time for a cash refund. Be careful out there.
Excellent gluten free sweet and sour chicken. They now offer cauliflower rice which is also delicious. The brown rice and white rice is also gluten free, but of course the fried rice is not. Makes a great lunch or dinner. Yum!!
Celiac safe, lots of GF options!
Just ordered the gluten free Mongolian streak with cauliflower rice and got glutened. I've never had a problem at any other location but this one.
Staff was hard to understand with no assurance that menu item would not be cross contaminated. I did eat the Spicy Chicken because it was noted as GF. It was way too spicy but didn’t make me sick (as in glutened). Boston airport is woefully lacking in gluten free options.
There are many GF options. The food is delicious.
Juat a few option but, tasty. I have been about 5 times with no issues
The menu shows quite a few gluten-free options but when I asked at the counter she said she did not know why they have all of those listed because there was only one item they could make gluten-free
I inquired about gluten free options from their menu. When requested, they prepare gluten free menu items in a separate wok and use pre packages gluten free soy sauce. If you do not request it to be gluten free, they prepare it normally. I did not get sick here and the food was quite good.
I’ve been here a couple times and have not had any problems! The staff is very helpful to accommodate you and make sure nothing becomes cross contaminated. I had no reaction and my meal was delicious! I had the gf chicken fried rice with gf sweet n sour sauce on the side. They also have gf tamari that I got on the side. I’ve also had the gf sweet n sour and it’s decent, but the chicken was a little dry. Who knows, maybe it was just the gf version that made it that way.
Just found out this is FMGF founder Jason Elmore's favorite chain, eyyyyyy! Love Pei Wei, this location has consistently proved to be "safe" for Celiacs, and the Pei Wei app and rewards system are both simple to use. We typically do carryout and the quality remains pretty consistent. We've never had to specify "gluten free" in the order. We just order like normal folks, which is great. Recommended.
I don’t eat at Pei Wei anymore. Gotten sick from them twice, once from this location. Was served regular sweet and sour chicken here, not gluten free. Not consistent at all.
Great food and they recently added several more gluten free options that are all delicious! Never gotten sick at any location.
Gf pei wei original is amazing. Eat here often with no issues.
I used to eat here at least once a week. I shared my gf meal with another family member and he can't tell it's gf. The last 3 or 4 times I have eaten here it has made me sick. I repeatedly ask that it be gf and they assure me that it is. Yesterday after the manager assured me, she brought me my food with a fried wonton right on top in the middle. I pointed it out and she offered to take it off - not remake the dish. I requested that it be remade, and got sick anyway.
Yummy and gluten free. Very knowledgeable. We had the pie wei original chicken. Came with a GF sticker on it. Also with packages of GF soy sauce.
Pei Wei recently changed their protocol on handling gluten free orders. I've tried various locations since then and I've never gotten sick. I'm a super sensitive Celiac so I'm super happy to finally have another safe place to add to my list!
They’ve recently expanded they’re gluten free options! They used to only have two gluten free options and now there’s more than six. I love the gf ginger broccoli chicken and the gf chicken fried rice. Always delicious. The staff seems knowledgeable. Just be sure to say that it’s gluten free and they take care of it.
Have attempted to eat here several times and found gluten in my food and the staff has no idea what celiac is . I’ve gotten sick now twice I will never go to pei wei again
I am very sensitive and despite asking for food to be prepared separately, I am sick. The staff seemed knowledgeable but may have been rushed since it was busy. Would not recommend depending on how sensitive you are. Very tasty though!
They just added more gluten free items like Kung pow chicken. I also like their brown rice is actually better than white rice. They cook gf items in separate pans. I have eaten here 4x in past month with no issues.
As a celiac customer, I was concerned that the busy staff would help to get a dish that met our requirements - no gluten, no dairy, not cross-contaminated. The staff was excellent in helping to ensure that the dish we ordered was perfect. We ordered a simple version of Mongolian Chicken. So happy that the staff worked with us on our request. We highly recommend this restaurant.
While the items here state they are GF I have had reactions to the items. To give them the benefit of the doubt is was right after they introduced the Kung Pao GF option so it could’ve been a simple mistake by the cooks.
YUM YUM YUM!! Tastes JUST like PF Chang’s spicy chicken! And not crazy expensive!!
Pei Wei has expanded their gf menu! With only two options, I wasn’t very impressed, but now with about 10 options, it’s great! I love the Mongolian chicken or beef- no mushrooms, add pineapple, carrots, and red peppers. I always order brown rice to go with it but now they are even offering gf fried rice. Don’t forget to ask for packets of gf soy sauce.
Even though there are only 2 items on the gf menu, the sweet and sour is very good. I asked about the chicken and it doesn’t have flour on it it’s potato starch. Just make sure u tell them u have celiac.
Great lunch! They had gluten free offerings for most dishes and were more gf aware than most restaurants around the UA.
Not recommended..contaminated food that was claimed to be Gluten free..please don't take any risk
Definitely not celiac safe. I went there with my mom who has celiac disease and she just ordered a simple sweet and sour chicken plate with rice but after we got home she had a horrible contamination. The staff acted like they knew the importance of her food being gluten free but clearly that didn’t work out that well. Won’t be going there again or at least not with my mom so she doesn’t have to worry about being contaminated over mediocre food. Update: After posting this review my mom found out she was also dealing with food poisoning.
i’ve eaten here several times and have not been sick. they have gf soy sauce also
Ordered with a manager and even asked the cooks to use new woks - Nima tested gluten POSITIVE. It is not safe if you are Celiac.
Pei Wei recently doubled their GF offerings, and they're getting better about labeling. Convenient takeout!
Kung pao chicken way too salty
I was greeted by a very educated manger, he was up to date on his menu and ingredients. He gave outstanding service ! We got to talk food industry as well! Highly suggest this establishment! Now the food was outstanding!! Lots of options !! We did the fried rice and the Mongolian Chicken !!
