We found a non-GF noodle in Our rice once . But before when we spoke to the manager it was all OK.
Placed a take out order and they gave me the breaded sweet and sour chicken. Did not notice until I got back to the office. Always check. :(
Gf sweet and sour chicken is hashtag amazinggggg
short on g/f menue options but what is available is delicious. So greatful to habe a chinese food option. check this place out; good food, reasonable prices.
Have eaten there several times with my daughter (who is super sensitive celiac) and we both were fine. Fast casual type restaurant where you order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Wish they had a larger selection and GF lettuce wraps like PF Changs.
I’ve been eating at this location for 2.5 years with no problem. The last time I was there, I thought I might have found a tiny piece of pasta in my gf edamame, but thought it was part of a bean, and I never reacted (I’ve been asymptomatic due to pregnancy, though). Today there were two larger pieces of noodle in the edamame. They either used the same water for noodles/edamame or shared strainer, not safe for those with celiac!
On my first trip they mistakenly breaded the shrimp in their Pei Wei original option (it's a good thing I'm not Celiac and just sensitive). The next two visits were prepared correctly and pretty good.
I’ve gotten sick too many times despite communicating celiac
Wish they had more options. My wife is Celiac and we have eaten at the Troy site, dozens of times. My wife has never been contaminated. She would be ill within twenty minutes if so. That said, the company does not interested in expanding the menu. We have contacted them and get a form letter response. adding to my three year old review. today is 1/11/18. Sure wish they would expand gf menu. To be fair though, the only reason we don't frequent Pei Wei more often is the limited gf menu. My wife has never been contaminated here. We probably eat here a dozen or more times a year. I changed the rating because this site is about gf and they are celiac safe.
Pei Wei is only one of three restaurants I will eat at. I have Celiac and am hypersensitive and have never had any issues at the Woodbury location. Yes their GF Menu is very limited, but I just rotate the three items I can have when I do go out, so it works for me. I only eat out once a month or two so it is really a treat for me.
I have eaten here 3 times since they opened and never had an issue
I have never been sick at this location. Make sure to mention it is for an allergy! I order the Pei Wei spicy with broccoli and it tastes very similar to general tsos! Love this place.
Everything was delicious. I am especially pleased at the care they took to make the gluten free meal for our friend who has celiacs.
I’ve had good experiences with Pei Wei in the past but not this time. I ordered the gluten free Pei Wei Original, (used to be called the Pei Wei Spicy) one of the like 3 gf options. This was my first time ordering this dish so I didn’t know what it was supposed to look like but after eating a few bites I noticed peanuts which weren’t supposed to be on the pei wei original. I took my dish up to the front and said are you sure that this is the pei wei original and not the kung pao? The guy checked his screen and looked up my order and assured me that it was the original, which to me doesn’t make since because they could have gotten my order right and messed up while making it. I walked away but didn’t eat anymore. After looking up pictures of the kung pao and original, I’m positive they gave me the kung pao (not gf). Now I am in bed sick, Thank you Pei Wei.
I love the gluten free sweet and sour shrimp. I also like the chicken salad rolls. They are willing to put entrees over salad instead of rice if you ask. I haven’t had any issues. Service is fast, accurate, and careful.
Our old standby for good Asian gluten free food! Love the spicy chicken and rice and salads.
The staff is indeed very friendly . I ordered the sweet and sour chicken . I was told by the manager that they use a potato based starch for breading. Unfortunately I became ill before I made it home . Perhaps cross contamination. I don't feel safe eating there again .
I only went there once but I ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken from the gluten free menu. It tasted alright but I was sick within 30 minutes of finishing my meal.
The sweet & sour chicken was very good! The brown rice was pretty dry but I still enjoyed my meal overall and the fact I didn’t have to explain what GF is. Would love it if they had an egg role (been wanting one for so long), fried rice, or sushi available too.
Consistently amazing, always attentive to cross contamination, and the food is great if you’re like me and order the same thing every time you go somewhere.
Pei Wei’s is one of my favorite restaurants. They have a gluten free menu, and I love their GF sweet and sour chicken. They have GF soy sauce as well. I have eaten there for several years, and have never gotten sick once. 😊
They have two choices: the sweet and sour or the peiwei original spicy, with either chicken or shrimp as meat. White or brown rice. Got the pw original with chicken. I was surprised to see it breaded! But they told me it was potato starch breading, and totally GF. Tasted AMAZING. I missed the breaded stuff! I hope they get more gf options in the future! Posted a pic in the photos section.
Excellent service with awesome, safe, gluten free options. My Celiac family eats here often. It's a favorite for us! They use separate pans, utensils, separate area, etc for GF items. Very well educated on cross contamination. Great option!
I have eaten here many, many times over the last four years. The food was always good and celiac safe, but no more. I have gotten sick the last three out of five times I have eaten there. And twice it has been more than just gluten, it has been more like a touch of food poisoning. This time my wife and I had different gluten-free dishes, we both got sick, and like the times before the food was just not as good as it normally is, so I’m not sure if it is a management issue or a cook issue. Makes me sad, great place. Hopefully somebody will post on here when they figure it out and get it corrected.
My first time here and I ordered the sweet & sour chicken and the cook came over to me to verify my order and assure me it would be cooked GF since I asked a lot of questions when ordering. The cook brought the dish out with a GF sticker and GF soy sauce packets. He came out and asked me how I liked the meal. No issues. Overall great service and food.
Not celiac safe. My daughter and I both got sick
This used to be my go-to. However, they no longer take celiac seriously. I was promised the manager would make my salad. As I was eating, I found a wonton in my salad. When asking the manager about it, she said she let the new guy make it, so she'll have to ask him! I was a very loyal customer, but that was one too many times, I gave grace when they messed up. Sometimes I caught it before I ate it, sometimes I didn't....and paid for the consequences later. I won't go back. And yes, I got sick from that won-ton cross-contamination ...
I got sick from the GF sweet and sour chicken. It had the same batter as my boyfriend's chicken, who does not suffer from Celiac. I called to let them know that I got sick, and the manager basically said that I was lying and there was no way i could be sick. I'm very disappointed in this business.
Not recommended..contaminated food that was claimed to be Gluten free..please don't take any risk
This Pei Wei has slapped GF stickers on regular entrees, had stray and noodles in my rice, and gave me an entirely different person's order. Don't trust them.
Always so good and reasonably priced. Never gotten sick here and this is a go to for us!
