I ate here with my family last week, since there was a long wait for lunch at Friedman’s next door, and my mother (celiac) had eaten here once before. My daughters and I are gluten and dairy intolerant (one actually has a severe dairy allergy). We had other members in our party who have no food allergies. I ordered my daughters the sliders from the kids menu with no cheese (I made it a point to specify “NO cheese”) on gluten free buns. The waiter was very accommodating and said they could cut up gluten-free buns for the sliders. Two other children in our party ordered the sliders WITH cheese on regular buns. I ordered myself a burger, also specifying NO cheese, on a gluten-free bun. The kitchen completely messed up our order and put cheese on my burger, as well as on both of my daughters’ sliders. They also failed to put cheese on the sliders that were on the regular buns. Accidents happen, and it would have been no big deal for them to just remake our food - we weren’t really in a big rush. The waiter was apologetic, and brought the four kids’ plates back to the kitchen (I didn’t return my plate - just scraped off the cheese, since I’m not too sensitive to a little cross-contamination). About a minute later, the waiter brought back the four kids’ plates, and I thought it seemed awfully quick. My dairy allergic daughter noticed that there was still cheese stuck to her bun. When I questioned the waiter, he said that they had just switched the cheese burgers from the gluten-free buns to the regular buns, and the plain burgers from the regular buns to the gluten-free buns. I asked for my daughter’s burgers to be remade due to her severe dairy allergy, and a manager brought her new plate out to us a few minutes later. All of the food was very tasty, but this is NOT a safe place to eat if you have celiac or any other type of food allergy, especially since they thought nothing of serving burgers that were switched from regular buns to gluten-free buns.
