We met up with friends for lunch and it was fantastic. I was the only gf person in our party. I was able to split a pizza and had 1/2 a salad. The salad came out with croutons but the server realized the mistake before it was even set in front of me. They were aware, answered all the questions and I felt safe.
I had a cauliflower crust GF pizza, and even though it was brought to the table by a separate good runner who indicated "GF pizza", I still had to reconfirm with our server that it was the right crust because IT WAS SO GOOD. Best GF pizza I've ever had, full stop. And every staff member was knowledgeable about it as well.
They mark if an item is gluten free. I ordered a side salad and the seafood risotto. I told the waiter that I had a gluten allergy and was celiac so no croutons. My salad came with croutons on it. We had ordered second round of drinks. When the waiter came back he did realize his mistake. They made me a brand new salad. My dinner was fine. They’re ok but need to stay on top of them. I wouldn’t say they are unsafe but didn’t give the best impression.
I was so excited to see that Peppercorn's had a new GF menu featuring zucchini noodles - so we had to go. We made a reservation online - and even though we arrived just on time for the reservation - we still stood around for about 15/20 minutes. After this time we still were not seated & we ended up sitting at a high top table in the bar area.
Our server was actually great - very personable & professional. I advised her that I had a GF allergy & she seemed to take it very serious.
I ordered the grilled chicken parmesan on zucchini noodles. When my dinner was served - I as well as the waitress noticed that the chicken was breaded & before I took a bite she ran off to the kitchen to ask them. She came back a short while later & advised that the kitchen said they were GF bread crumbs. They weren't on the menu - but I figured if she did the due diligence of checking with the kitchen then they were in fact GF bread crumbs.
This is where I was wrong. I should have trusted my gut & asked for the chicken to be done the way I had asked - grilled. Because I spent the rest of my night in horrible pain. After 5 hours of pain, I decided that if my charcoal pills did not lessen the pain in an hour I was going to go to the ER and have my stomach pumped. Thankfully the pills combined with a heating pad worked and I did not have to go to the ER.
Based on this experience - I will be keeping as far away from Peppercorns as I possibly can. I was excited that I could add another list of places to go out to eat - but my experience on 2/25/17 will not be one that I could ever look past. I caution anyone that is GF to be extremely cautious.
Excellent service and delicious food. They do offer a gluten free menu, I just asked for a "chef's surprise". The chef made me a gluten free surprise dish; pan seared Mahi Mahi topped with corn, black olives and peppers with a side pesto effused mashed potatoes and roasted mushrooms. This was the best fish dinner I have had in the states!!
Food was excellent! They had a lot of options and staff was well informed!
