C’est magnifique! We actually stumbled onto this restaurant on our first night in Quebec City after we found the taco place we were headed to was closed for a private party.
What an incredible surprise! We had our choice of almost everything on the menu - including THREE desserts! (I went for the chocolate mousse.)
The staff was warm, friendly and entertaining. They helped us through the menu and the language barrier (my high school French didn’t include a celiac vocabulary.)
We ordered a salad and were served three wonderful sides - beets, a carrot salad, and a celery root and caper combination I really enjoyed.
We had our choice of almost every entree on their menu. My husband (gluten sensitive) opted for the poisson du jour, which was salmon that day. It was served with rice and hearty vegetables. He said it was the best salmon he has ever eaten.
I went for the tartiflette - and I was so happy I did! It was a wonderful, comforting dish of potatoes, onions and bacon with a delicious thick cheese and cream sauce. All the entrees were served in piping hot cast iron cookware.
The restaurant is quaint and inviting. They have a deli case with locally made cheese, butter, and sausages. They are open from 10 to 2pm for breakfast and lunch (check schedule – not every day).
We are definitely going back! Luckily, they are walking distance from our Airbnb.
