The best first night in England because of Pieminister. There’s a dedicated gf menu, my server was knowledgeable and asked whether I was celiac or not to inform the kitchen and my dinner and cider tasted great! Hallelujah!
We’ve been in England for a week and my husband and I agreed this was the best meal we’ve had the whole trip (and we’ve had some amazing ones!). I went myself for lunch then brought him back for dinner the same day. Had the GF Moo (steak + ale) pie and the free range chicken (chicken, ham, and leek). WOW. Separate GF menu available, 2 for 1 drinks, absolutely delicious.
Pies are not an obvious choice for GF food, but Pieminister are on the money. Much of their pie menu is available as a GF option, and even some of their combination deals are available fully GF. They even stock GF beer. Staff were incredibly knowledgeable and highly cross-contamination aware, and called out the possibility of a slightly extended wait as a result (didn’t materialise anyway!) As for the food, the chicken free ranger was amazing. Highly, highly recommended.
Several appetizing GF menu options, clearly designated. We got no insight into any potential cross-contamination. My kid chose sausage and mashed potatoes from kid’s menu and while the sausage was unimpressive, the potatoes and side of peas were delicious (as was my non-GF pie). The staff was very nice and helpful but the decor is shabby and toilets were primitive.
! I’d never had British pies before and this was absolutely delicious and the prices were amazing! Almost everything could be made gf as said on the menu and they clearly understood cross contamination. My friend and I shared sides and they made sure the sides were also celiac friendly and brought them on a separate plate to her gluten pie. Highly recommend this chain!
Have yet to try, but have read reviews of their other locations and people say good things. Not dedicated gluten-free, but 3 GF pie options available (one of which is vegan). Nearly all sides, such as fries, mash, slaw, are GF. GF IPA and lager on offer, and a dessert option too!
I called in initially to check what GF Options there were. The staff member (Libby) was extremely helpful and friendly.
We went back for a meal later in the evening. It was excellent.
I cannot comment on Safety.
I had the beef pie with peas mash and gravy. Delicious! The other pie options were chicken or a vegan option. Sides of chips etc also available.
Tasty gluten free pies cooked to order. I’m very sensitive and have never had an issue here. They cook gluten free orders on a separate tray, on a shelf above any gluten pies that are in the oven at the same time. They also offer the option of having your pie heated on its own in their gf air fryer if preferred.
I always avoid the sides because there is a risk of cross contamination there - as I was warned by a manager on my first visit. Some staff have still offered them to me, but I prefer to be on the safe side and say no.
