I attended a function which was supposed to have gluten free food available. Tapas-style plates of food were brought out for all to share, none of it marked as gluten free. I asked a staff member which of the plates was gluten free… he was holding a plate of crumbed cauliflower and said ‘well I think this is gluten free?’ Very dangerous for a coeliac!
I requested that some gluten free food be taken and put on a separate plate for me while it was all still in the kitchen, but instead they brought me a few small plates of different food from what the rest of the group had. It was absolutely delicious… and most importantly, safe. The only sad thing about it is that because they made separate food for me, they charged the group extra for it, when all I really asked for was for the group’s food in the first place. It has caused problems with my friends.
I think this place is great if you are only gluten intolerant, but I would be inclined to avoid it if you have Coeliac Disease as I have. It was an unnerving experience, and the waiting staff had no idea.
