Used to come here for sushi, they were once very knowledgable about GF & had very good GF sushi. However, went back a few years ago & they claimed they didn’t have GF vinegar and didn’t know what I was talking about. Very unfortunate as it was delicious & 1 of only 2 sushi places that I’ve been going to for 10 years because they were accommodating (and the other also no longer serves GF sushi).

We called to order take out and both my husband and I were told they have a dedicated fryer and kitchen space for GF peeps - I was so excited! I called back to reconfirm what they’d said - was put on the line with a manager - who reassured me there was a dedicated fryer for GF items and a separate kitchen space. I wrote a glowing Yelp review and today received a message from the restaurant manager. She said I had been misinformed and that there was no dedicated fryer or kitchen prep space.

This is not good... i would NEVER have eaten any of the sushi had I been properly informed of the ACTUAL deal.

How can one manager be so misinformed?

GF soy sauce and panko breading, although it is made in a shared fryer. My server and the person who brought out the food reminded me that the fryer is shared so there may be a risk of cross contamination with one roll my husband ordered just for him. They also made rolls that were supposed to be panko fried without any breading for me. I have been several times and they are so accommodating! The food is so delicious too!

They had a bit of a rough start when they first opened but I have been back several times and everything is wonderful now. Sometimes they have gluten-free sauce and sometimes they don't so bring your own. Really really good food really really good sushi very aware of gluten-free issues. Plus they are now in downtown Dunedin so...win win.

The food I ate did not make me sick, but the whole situation had me uncomfortable. They do not have the menu marked so you have to trust the waiter. She pointed out a couple rolls that could be made for me, I would have felt better getting a salad or something other then a roll but she didn't go over any of that with me and I was with my boyfriends parents whom I just met so I didn't want to keep asking questions. I ate what I got, it was pretty good and I didn't get sick, but I won't go back

DO NOT EAT HERE if you are Celiac or allergic to gluten. After the staff reassured us several times that the food was safe, our meal came out with deep fried panko from a shared fryer. My fiancé became very sick and is still feeling bad several days later. Sushi was average.

I ordered gluten free & explained that I am celiac. The waitress understood and advised that the while panko flour is gluten free, it is then fried in a gluten containing fryer and so the final product is NOT gluten free. For someone who is gluten sensitive, this may or may not may not be a problem. To a celiac, it's flat out dangerous. She advised which rolls I could not have (certain sauces, panko, and such) and which ones could be modified (without panko for example). I felt confident in the information I was given so my fiancé and I ordered a number of different rolls. Presentation was beautiful, I dug into the spicy tuna and while I was eating, I looked up at the plate of rolls and noticed that the roll sitting next to the roll I was eating had panko crunchy flakes all over it, and yep, spilled onto the roll I was eating. I looked down at my plate and saw a crunchy flake that fell off my chopsticks and about cried on the spot. The waitress genuinely felt terrible and was apologetic, said she told one chef that I couldn't have the panko but a 2nd chef helped with the order and chef #1 didn't tell #2. But hey, this is the risk I took so I can only blame myself. The tiny flakes blend in pretty well with white rice & I didn't see them. I just re-read the reviews left before mine and noticed neither commented about being celiac. So I'm leaving this one, for the celiac who is considering eating here. If they don't make the same mistake with your food, you may be fine..? Perhaps I'm the random unlucky one? But man I feel it, this is not good. It's only day 2 of our vacation so I'm hoping this doesn't get really bad. Guess I'll know by morning.
