Go here. Just do it, preferably night one. Best pizza, best gnocchi, try the chocolate soufflé. Try everything. They cook your pizza in a separate pan, boil fresh water for the gnocchi, and treat your food carefully because the owner has celiacs! This is the most flavor I’ve had from a meal since I’ve been diagnosed and it made my entire trip. We discovered it lunch time on our last day in Vienna and went back for dinner and are sad we have to leave this place behind. SO GOOD
Very tiny place and we ran into some trouble as the woman there didn’t speak any English and we didn’t speak any German. I gave her my gluten free travel card in German but she seemed unsure what to do with it. Could be great but we decided the language barrier was too risky to try and navigate. If you’re an out of town tourist maybe not the best fit for you
best gluten-free pizza!! the dough, the seasoning, everything was good. it's a very welcoming restaurant, the person who served us asked if I was celiac and said that the pizza was made in a separate oven. I felt very safe and the pizza even came in an aluminum pan to avoid contamination. the gluten-free dessert was also delicious. I recommend it
This is a tough review to write because the GF awareness was a proper 10/10. And the pizzas were superb both non GF and GF. And I mean superb. Top 5 of any pizza ever.
But, and this a me thing, you have to have good service as well and that just wasn’t what we experienced. The manager / owner was on his own. Vienna was busy because of Taylor Swift and so he was running the garden and dining room on his own.
And this meant you got what you ordered after you ordered it but you had to grab him whenever you saw him and that became less and less frequent as he accepted walk ins into the dining room.
Would thing about going back but I would rush.
We went to this restaurant for dinner. I got one of the best gluten-free pizzas so far. They are very careful with cross contamination, the pizza is cooked in an aluminum tray to avoid contamination. The owner explain to you the process and also almost all desserts are gluten-free. They also offer gluten-free pasta. If you’re in Vienna this place is totally worth it.
The pizza and pasta is incredible. Menu is marked with allergens according to accepted codex. The pizza is thin crust and toppings are amazing. Also tried a bit of the pasta (compliments of the owner) and it was perfectly cooked! Confirmed with owner GF pasta is cooked in fresh water. Overall, great food, great service and a very conscientious owner. Highly recommend.
Although I am celiac, I can tolerate the GF beer here which is either enzymatically treated or made with a ‘special process’ so I imbibed.
We've been to this place a few times but on this occasion we were not impressed. Upon arrival, we were treated poorly by the manager and we didn't feel very welcome. We were told that there was no space, and we accepted and asked for takeaway. We were then told multiple times aggressively that there would be a wait to eat in, which we were very understanding and actually extremely nice to the manager upon arrival as well. It was really obvious that they needed more staff members on as he was running around like a headless chicken. The gluten free pizza was not as good as previous gluten free bases that we have had in Vienna elsewhere or other times that we have visited here, and we also had to pay for the use of the cutlery on our bill which was a hidden service fee for basically nothing. The place seemed like it was in chaos and desperately needed more staff as it really affected our experience.
Gorgeous gorgeous pizzas, such fresh ingredients, the perfect texture. Just amazing flavours with the dough too, can't recommend enough; Run by a coeliac (though not entirely gluten free!) But they cook pizzas in separate ovens, and separate ares of the kitchen as well as using foil to be doubly sure. A really quirky romantic vibe about the place, feels Italian in every sense and a must see for coeliacs in vienna
AMAZING experience. The owner has celiac and cooks your meal himself separate from everyone else (gnocchi has its own water, pizza has its own oven). He also comes to the table and explains all the GF options and the precautions taken. The bread, pizza, and basil pesto gnocchi were all so yummy with no reaction afterwards. Highly recommend!
Cosy little Italian restaurant near the Museum Quarter. Real Italian atmosphere with real Italian food. The owner himself has issues with gluten and lactose, so you will be in hoodhands here. They know everything. There's a whole separate menu with gluten free options. Pizza, gnocchi, salads, desserts and even beer. All other allergens are thoroughly listed as well. I had the gnocchi with ragú and it was amazing. Not just that, it was a huge portion too. Highly recommend to visit this place. I will certainly be back to try the pizza and the souffle.
Best GF pizza I've had so far! It was perfect. The owner is celiac so he knows all about it. There's an extra GF menu with starters, pasta, pizza, and desserts. They're very careful regarding contamination. The pizza is baked in its own metal dish and the pasta is cooked in its own pot (which is why it takes about half an hour).
I went there earlier this evening with my sister but I was very disappointed with my experience there. We were told on arrival that yes they did cater for gluten free. However when the waitress came to take our order I was told if I was having pasta I would have to wait an hour while they boiled the water and cooked the gluten free pasta for me. I opted for a pizza with tomato, garlic and parsley. The pizza arrived with just tomato and minutes later garlic in oil, parsley and some other topping arrived. The table we were shown to had no cutlery and when our food was served the waitress went off and didn't return, I had to take the cutlery from another table. The pizza was doughy, I wasn't able to cut it with a knife. When I added the garlic it tasted oil saturated. I didn't finish the pizza as I didn't like it and I definitely wouldn't return to the restaurant.
Tested the gluten free pizza with my Nima tested and got three dark red lines, gluten found.
The chef/owner expressed concern and offered remake the pizza and do further testing on individual ingredients but I had to pass since I only had a few capsules with me.
Sad I didn’t get to try the pizza because it looked and smelled ridiculously good.
Our six year old child is coeliac and a terrible eater. This is the first time in months that she finished an entire pizza. This is unheard of. It was the best pizza she has had in a very long time. It brought us so much joy to see her loving her food. The owner is kind and very knowledgeable. Could not recommend more highly!
This was around the corner from our Airbnb. We walked in to place an order for takeout, and the staff person (owner?) was very friendly and helpful. Pizzas were ready in 10 minutes and delicious. I enjoyed my gf vegetarian pizza with large pieces of vegetables and spinach, and my husband enjoyed his plain non-gf pizza. The gf pizza is baked and served on a disposable metal tray. We were excited to eat the leftovers for dinner two days later!
This place is a must for a celiac in Vienna. The food we were given was delicious and served (and cooked) separately to my partners dish. Giovanni himself was more than courteous and provided excellent table service. If you are in the area go and if not make the trip.
This is a MUST when you are in Vienna as a Celiac! Visited here based on the other reviews on this app - It did not disappoint! It’s an easy walk from the Rathaus and the city center. The pizza was amazing! Just like what the others said, the owner was so kind. He reassured me that everything is safe for Celiacs. He bakes it in an aluminum pan and takes care to ensure no cross contamination. I haven’t had pizza like this probably since I’ve been diagnosed. I plan to go back before I leave if I can.
Amazing and extremely coeliac friendly. I had a really delicious gluten free pizza. The pizza was cooked in an aluminium tray to avoid cross-contamination and the staff assured me it was 100% gluten free - the staff were also knowledgeable about coeliac disease. I would definitely recommend, the food was amazing and the staff were so friendly!
