We love Pom and have been coming to the restaurant for many years, as well as using Lisa Dupar catering for several work events. The staff is always friendly and personable, and the food is consistently yummy. The menu - both hard copy and online - is clearly marked for GF options, and the staff is quite knowledge about GF vs. Celiac. Even the bartender cautioned us that if Celiac, he wouldn’t recommend eating here because they make flat bread with pizza flour that lingers in the air no matter how strong the blowers. He also confirmed they have NO dedicated GF fryer. That said, if GF is an intolerance (only), there are several dishes on the menu to choose from. Tell your server you are GF, and that kitchen will take extra care. We find everyone at the restaurant to be very accommodating, and if you have clarifying questions about what items are GF, they speak to the chef to confirm (e.g. the tomato soup is GF!).
Been coming here for many years before celiac diagnosis — and would love to give higher reviews — but after giving numerous chances and sending online feedback — they just don’t get it. The few Items marked as GF on the menu are often fried and cross-contaminated (and seem to be more about marketing than safety although they do offer GF buns.) The waitstaff doesn’t seem well-educated and the chef unwilling to truly commit to non-contaminated, safe GF menu choices. It’s sad as Chef is a very highly-regarded local chef with a booming catering business. Pomegranate could be a leader in this, but refuses to pick up the baton. Sad.
I have been to Pomegranate Bistro several times and it is awesome. The staff is always very knowledgeable and helpful. The food is delicious. The menu is clearly marked and if you call a day ahead and let them know that you are coming they will prepare fries in a designated frier if you ask them to. I usually get the hamburger on gluten free bun ( delicious) with fries or fish tacos-- subbing a salad for the chips.
