We don’t often make the reverse commute from the city to the suburbs looking for great food, but Pomeroy will now become part of our regular rotation. The atmosphere was perfect for a warm September night as our family sat in one of the front booths with the windows open wide to the cozy sidewalk café. I started with the French Onion Soup Gratinee which is always a test for any French bistro, passed with flying colors; hot and delicious. The four of us shared two salads, the Salade Verte and Le Pomeroy which were excellent. Being a French Bistro, we went for the Steak a la Bordelaise which was hands down the best steak frites I have ever had. The cut of steak far better than what is typical for a steak frites, perfectly cooked and flavored with a butter/shallot sauce, it melted in my mouth. The biggest test came to the frites since my wife is a certified French Fry snob. They were perfect, hot and crispy and a little bit soft inside. But the best part is that the fries are cooked in their own fryer, so they are Gluten-Free. In fact, like all Ballyhoo restaurants, Pomeroy does an excellent job providing safe Gluten-Free food which is a requirement for our Celiac daughter. They also have a kid’s menu so the little ones could also partake in their junior Steak Frites. The delightful assortment of Macarons is also Gluten-Free as they should be but aren’t always. I highly recommend Pomeroy; you won’t be disappointed.
