Had a popover. Decent. Probably a bit of cross contamination, just looking at prep area. Menu looked great though.

The GF popovers are prepared in a separate area and stored separately as well. They are delivered to you with a GF pick in the popover. The salmon plate and the GF quiche were phenomenal. We went twice in 1 weekend!

Excellent gluten-free popovers, as always, served with delicious maple butter. We also had a very good gluten-free cheesecake. Both were labeled gluten-free.

Do you ever almost cry of happiness when ordering food because the servers are so sweet and understanding? That was me here haha
When ordering I asked if the gf popovers were dairy free too, they aren’t so I said I was all set. She quickly offered me a breakfast sandwich with gf/df bread, egg and veggies. I questioned it because I feel like cross contamination can be hard to avoid at a quick service spot especially with so much gluten and dairy in the kitchen. She quickly said it was no problem at all to cook it separately in it’s own pan to keep it safe then told the chef that the upcoming order needed to avoid cross contamination. I was so excited, I haven’t felt comfortable ordering a breakfast sandwich in years and it was delicious!
I felt fine after eating but if you go always make sure you’re comfortable with their safety precautions! There is A LOT of gluten there, had the restaurant been a little more busy than it was when I went, I’m not sure I would have felt as comfortable ordering.

We ordered for pickup. I checked the dairy allergy box in addition to the gluten allergy box. They tried calling to say that there was dairy in the popover and cupcake but we missed the call. They did make sure to tell my boyfriend when he went to pickup and labeled the cupcake box with “contains dairy” I am lactose intolerant so it wasn’t the end of the world but just so people know.
The boxes were labeled clearly. The cupcake and popover were in individual boxes. This is so key for gluten free people so I give them a lot of credit here.
I got the loaded popover which was okay. It was a bit dry and didn’t have a lot of flavor. Cheese probably would have helped if I could eat it. The filling was good.
I’ll update if I eat the cupcake. I’m at a wedding so I’m not sure if the dairy frosting will be worth it.

I vacationed to this area this week. My family went to breakfast both days. The set up is a counter order and then they bring the food to your table. The first day our server was very aware of keeping my gluten free food separate from my family’s gluten food. She clearly explained this when she brought out our food. The second day we had a different server. This time my gluten free food was in direct contact with the gluten food when the plates being though out were stacked. I politely explained that I had ordered this as an allergy and could not eat it since it was touching the gluten. The server challenged me then brought it back. I was not that upset about this because this is a mistake that can happen. But when the manager came back out to bring my new food she said “just so you know this is not a gluten free facility” in an extremely loud voice. She then walked away. We obviously knew this was not a gluten free facility but I just did not want cross contamination as a very sensitive celiac. I am not sure why this needed to be said as we were also very vocally thankful for their accommodations. Very disappointed to be shamed for just trying to keep my health safe. Food was delicious and I was ready to leave a glowing review after the first day, but not after this.

I ordered the gluten free popover and gluten free quiche and side of fruit. My gluten detection dog indicated on my plate. Once I separated the food the fruit was cleared but the quiche and popover were not. Total bummer #NotVioletApproved

Disappointing for what I ordered. Lots of options though. The popover was too dry and was not served warm. Had the salmon on English muffin with hummus which was tasty although incorporated onto on side.

Excellent establishment that takes the necessary precautions. They have an exclusive GF case that has macaroons and a couple of other cookies. So delicious. Make sure they know you're sensitive to cross contamination and they will change gloves & get you your own to go box. Sandwiches are great too.

My first popover ever! My friend said they tasted just about the same as gluten containing ones. Didn’t try other gf things, so I really recommend coming here just for the popovers. My food came marked gluten free and seemed safe!

Great little place with indoor and outdoor seating. I had a roast beef sandwich on a delicious gf roll and of course a gf popover. I have never had a popover before so I had nothing to compare it to. It was SOOOO good! If you’re in the area, give them a try.

Traveling with 4 kids- one with celiac- is always a challenge to find kid friendly food. Especially for breakfast when the celiac does not like eggs. We were thrilled to find this place! My husbands favorite food growing up, and he could share with all the kids. The maple butter was delicious as well.

They’re GF popovers are amazing but I’d be very careful twice I have ordered their Gluten free quiche saying gluten free and they’ve given me a gluten popover with it contaminating the whole thing. I got a piece of GF fruit bread and it was moldy... I’d stuck to the popovers.

The popovers are amazing!!! Nice to have gluten free food that tastes so good. I ate there twice while traveling and did not get sick.

I was excited to find a place that sold gluten free popovers only a couple blocks from the John Paul Jones house. I had a list of New England foods I wanted to try, but thought I'd have to give up on the popover until I found this place. We came for lunch on a week day and they were quite busy. Three of us got the soup with a popover and homemade maple butter (I had the gluten free clam chowder). The fourth member of our group had a hamburger. I liked the popovers so much I bought 3 more to go, which I ate for breakfast the following days of our trip. The cafe also had several gluten free options in their bakery section.

Gluten free almost everything. Eating a popover was quite a treat!
Excellent gf options and celiac safe. They can do gf sandwiches and make amazing gf popovers.

Great! Many GF options for breakfast or lunch...paninis, soups, popovers, desserts. GF items clearly displayed on menu.

Hit or miss. My daughter was served a normal roll, only discover after she ate half of it.
Yummy gluten-free popovers, several GF dessert options. Seemed to have good options for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

They cross contaminate a lot. There is no separate prep area. We get sick every time when ordering food. Their cake seems ok because they say it’s made at a separate gluten free kitchen.
No
Great selection of food! Very flavorful! Highly recommend it!
Not Celiac-friendly. Cross-contamination during food prep likely as they do not keep a separate gluten-free prep area.

I wanted to make gf popovers for my daughter as we are biking to the Jordan Pond House in Acadia tomorrow and they are famous for their popovers served out on the lawn with a stunning view. Alas, I was foiled by missing ingredients. I was so lucky to accidentally find this place makes fabulous gf popovers!! After a terrific lunch, my stash was perfectly bundled for tomorrow's surprise. This was a great find and especially appreciated today on my birthday. Thank you to your wonderful team!!

My family of 3 is GF, we go to the Epping site regularly, it never dissapoints. Great food, great to have a place to go for a special dessert as well.

Perhaps it was just an unlucky day for me. I ordered the half sandwich / half salad. I informed the server I was celiac and she informed me that anything could be made GF. I went ahead and ordered a pulled pork and turkey sandwich and Caesar salad without the croutons. So maybe it was my unlucky day but later one I began getting the symptoms of eating gluten and the next day feel horrible.

Great gluten free food offerings including popovers and clam chowder!
I visit Popovers whenever I want to treat myself! They're always super transparent about how they prepare the gluten free options, and their deserts are to die for. I'm really sensitive to cross-contamination, and they've never hit me. Definitely a go-to for me when I want to feel like a regular person going out.
