I stayed at Doubletree for 7 days and I eat almost everyday at Port South. The chef was very alert about celiac desease and he found alternatives. It was always very good and safe.

This is the restaurant in the Doubletree Hotel in Hollywood, FL. We stayed for a few days and I ate 4 meals here safely. There’s a note on the menu to ask to talk with the manager if you have allergies. My servers were Maria, Eric, and another I can’t recall. They were all very conversant in GF issues and communicated with the chef for me. Nothing is marked GF on the menu. TripAdvisor has many more reviews about their handling of allergies, or I would have stayed elsewhere.
For lunch I had a chicken quesadilla made on corn tortillas instead of flour and cooked in its own pan. It was super hot, tasty, filling of veggies and chicken, a little light on cheese.
For dinner I had salmon with a hash of corn, peppers, and spinach. The hash was supposed to be with potatoes but they’re made in a shared fryer. This was a decision made by the chef, which I appreciated.
From breakfast I had omelets. They make these in their own pan, so little risk of cross contact. The potatoes are again made in a shared fryer. They seem to have GF bread sometimes, but I skipped it.
The best thing I ate in 3 days was the quesadilla. Everything else was good, not great, but safe. And NO UPCHARGE for GF.
If you’re staying in the hotel there is a 15% discount on all meals eaten at the restaurant, which I appreciated.
Service was professional but not always super warm. That’s okay - they got the job done. You might need to advocate a bit but they definitely have a knowledgeable chef and can help you get safe food.
