Confirmed with worker that it was entirely GF and safe. They use a rice flour blend in all of their baked goods. So no worries about any cross contamination.
I got the chicken katsu sando with their raspberry and matcha donut holes. Everything was amazing!! I will definitely go back if I’m in the area.
Do yourself a favor and stop by here. I ordered the miso shortbread cookies which have a yuzu glaze, and they were mild and tasty. I ordered a chicken katsu sandwich to share with my gluten eating husband and he loved it as well (he doesn’t even like chicken!) and I ordered the lemon soda and strawberry milky. The milk was creamy and sweet but not overwhelming. I’m not a fan of milk, but this was good. The lemon soda tasted as if it was drinking fizzy lemon juice. Very sour, but I’m a fan of that so it was perfect for me. I will be returning to NYC in fall and plan to return here and to Nami Nori next door!
This place is a gem! Got the lemon bun, raspberry mochi donut holes, and black sesame banana bread to share. All were delicious and would 100% order everything again. That said, my favorite was probably the banana bread - super moist and unique with the salty, savory addition of black sesame. Love that the desserts here aren’t overly sweet like many GF baked goods are. Can’t wait to go back :)
Absolutely a must visit place if you are ever in the area! I went later in the day and picked up a chicken katsu sandwich and lemon roll to take back home. I was afraid it wouldn’t taste as good on the second day but it was amazing. Really nice gluten free bread and breading on the chicken. My only regret is I wish I brought home more things to try!
I love iced matcha lattes and they have one of the best I ever tried!
I’ve tried their strawberry sando, chicken katsu sando, and egg sando, and they’re all delicious. My only gripe is that the sandwiches are served cold, which takes away from the overall experience. But since they’re gluten-free and safe for Celiacs, I really can’t complain too much!
If you are coming on a weekend I recommend coming early (before noon) because they do run out of sandwiches and baked goods and won’t make more. I f you visit on Saturdays, there’s a farmer’s market and local vendors stretching along the street and into nearby areas. It’s a great opportunity to explore and discover something new!
There is limited seating inside and two tables outside.
Believe the hype, this needs to be on your GF NYC bucket list. The sando bread truly made me do a double take, it’s exactly like wonder bread. Squishy, soft and perfect for little sandwiches. Hojicha latte and lemon roll were also reallyyy good. I desperately want to know their secrets. Store itself is very, very cute and pleasant to eat inside or outside. Small, but nice. Employees were warm and helpful. This place is an absolute treasure.
WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK What do they make their bread and cakes out of? According to my boyfriend, who can eat wheat and is a phenomenal baker, they are indistinguishable. The cake is moist and not gritty at all. The white bread on the sandos is spongey and light… this is sorcery.
Postcard emerged onto the scene and quickly became one of the best gluten free bakeries in NYC! I’ve never had anything like their milk bread (get the chicken katsu sando!!) and never thought I’d be able to eat this type of sandwich again. Baked goods are fantastic and also inventive with Japanese flavors (Koji burnt basque cheesecake!). Go in the morning before the crowds. Can’t wait to try everything on the menu!
Oh. My. Goodness. This place is incredible! Their lemon bun is moist and chewy, and not dry/crumbling at all!!! I don’t know how they do it but please go try everything it’s all so delicious!!!! Their sister sushi restaurant, Nami Nori, is also incredible if you’re looking for a meal before some dessert
What a sweet dedicated-gf cafe! Loved the way it was designed (the colors! the tiles! the font on the sandwich board!), and the treats we tried were delicious. The chicken sandwiches are fabulous, though a little pricey. (I think just typical prices in the city, but noting anyway.) Also very much enjoyed the chocolate cake.
Such a cute spot and also tasty. I had the lemon bun, which has more of a lemon whipped cream topping than icing so it wasn’t so sweet, which I loved. I got the yuzu cookies to go and they were good when I ate them the next day. The staff were very kind, they confirmed the facility is entirely GF. Next to Nami Nori, too, which makes for a nice two-in-one stop.
Such a cute exterior + equally cute interior 🫶🏻 All options were GF and celiac safe, with no gluten in the kitchen/bakery at all. I had the Miso Cookie, which was very tasty and didn’t have that signature GF ‘crumbly’ texture. The barista was very sweet as well, and answered all of my questions about safety.
