We stayed one night at the W Washington Hotel and had dinner at the POV Rooftop. Before arriving I had tried to contact them about what would be safe but we never heard back. We still made reservations as we wanted to watch the sunset over the White House and this is a great place for that view. In a year when everything near the White House was closed off, mostly due to construction, it was our only chance to see the building.
When we checked into the hotel, we asked the front desk staff about talking with the chef. They had him call us in our room within an hour of arriving. He was extremely helpful and though they have a well labeled menu he was able to tell me of a few additional options they have that aren't labeled. The fryers are contaminated and the crab cakes have bread crumbs. They do have gluten free bread and sometimes gluten free buns so they are able to do the burgers and sandwiches. Their lobster fried rice was highly recommended by the chef and contains tamari sauce instead of soy sauce (be sure to double check if you go back to make sure they are still doing it with tamari as the waitress thought they were still using soy sauce so it might have been a recent change). They offered ice cream and sorbet for dessert. The kitchen/chef team for the Living Room and the Corner Office are the same, so all this applies to those restaurants and bars as well.
I ended up getting the Filet Mignon, which was so moist and excellent even at medium. My husband had the lobster fried rice but I took a bite and we both enjoyed it. We also tried the crabby deviled eggs which were delicious. For dessert we had vanilla ice cream with berries.
The wait staff was amazing and they really went the extra mile in making our anniversary dinner special.
