The pizza was yum! Hard to believe the base was GF. The staff were helpful and explained their contamination risks and precautions which I was comfortable with.

I have been to prego twice before and been fine. However, my most recent trip resulted in the worst gluten exposure I have experienced. Oddly, this was as a result of a risotto, which should be easy to prepare gluten free. I also only ate risotto and didn't eat anything else that afternoon. Within 2 hours of eating, I had extreme vomiting and gastro symptoms. Two days later and I am still suffering with migraines and arthralgia. The restaurant is investigating, but so far claims to have followed all recommendations. With such a severe reaction, this was clearly not the case.

Went to Prego about 2 years ago and had a great time, decided to go back.
Did not feel very safe. I asked for gluten free pasta and said I was coeliac. My waiter advised that they boil their gluten pasta in the same water as the GF pasta and would this be okay, and how serious of a coeliac I was. I explained that that would make me sick, so he discussed with the chef and they agreed they would be able to cook it separately for me.
Unfortunately despite this I have been really unwell today (the day after) so don’t recommend. The food itself was delicious but not worth being unwell.

They had a good understanding of our coeliac requirements and lots of gf options on the menu. waiter aware and conscientious and had confidence in the kitchen. Pasta options substitute is penne and they have gf pizza bases. We will go back again for sure.

Been here a few times. Always get the Margarita pizza and a salad and it’s yum! Never had an issue

Eaten here a many times over the years. They have GF pizza and pasta. I almost always get the spag bol (served with GF penne pasta) because its so yum. My favourite smart-casual Ponsonby eatery and never been sick. Aucklanders love this restaurant.
