This chicken was DELICIOUS and the bun was the softest I've had in years! Their procedures made me feel really safe, too.
They accidentally brought me a gluten bun the first time, but luckily I recognized it and was able to get the sandwich swapped for a fresh gluten free one. Sandwich was delicious and I felt fine afterwards, but I am a bit hesitant to return
I was cross-contaminated on my last trip here. I ordered GF friend chicken, fries, and coleslaw. The staff is nice and warned me that they didn’t have confidence that something was not cross-contaminated in their kitchen since there’s so many moving pieces. Perhaps the CC was due to some recent gluten-unfriendly changes (potato wedges are now gluten containing, although they said fries are still GF).
I’ve also eaten here once where I didn’t experience CC. As a symptomatic celiac I don’t like to take risks, so unfortunately it’s unlikely I’ll eat here again.
I would still recommend this location to gluten intolerant folks and folks without celiac, the GF fried chicken is quite tasty.
I love the gluten free fried chicken sandwich soooooooo much! All of their potato options are so good! Chips, fries, & wedges are all really yummy! Portions are huge & their habanero sauce is magical on the sandwich!
Thank you, Rhonda! We're thrilled to hear that you're a fan.
They have a tasty GF sandwich. However, have digestion issues after eating it (though it this just due to low quality ingredients.)
Hi Leila. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We're sorry we were slow to respond to this, and very sorry to hear that you had a negative experience dining with us. We pride ourselves on using the highest quality ingredients. All of our chicken is organic, free-range, and raised without added hormones. Our gluten-free bread is sourced locally from Mariposa Bakery in Oakland. We'd love to get a few more details about your visit. When you have a moment, please email us at [email protected] so we can continue our conversation. Thank you!
Cashier was knowledgeable and quickly able to answer questions. Fries are made in the GF fryer. Boyfriend compared my GF fried chicken to his regular fried chicken and was clearly able to tell the difference (peace of mind!) and said mine were more moist (positive!). They had a sticker to mark mine was GF, and wrote celiac on the box. Only just finished my food, but feeling optimistic.
10/10 this place is amazing! The staff did an awesome job communicating how to order for gluten free and wrote allergy on the tab. I didn’t even feel like a burden to get accommodations which ALWAYS improves the service quality.
Now for the important part. The food was AMAZING we got the fried chicken entree which came with 3 pieces of chicken (one drum stick and 2 thighs), fries (have a separate fryer) as an alternative to the biscuits, and a tomato cucumber salad (which I personally didn’t like, but it wasn’t a big deal). I also got the wings which were really good. They did mention the barbecue sauce has gluten so they suggested the buffalo wings.
Overall it was a tasty, good experience! Definitely am going to come back here next time I’m in the area and I’m thankful of how helpful and how serious they took the allergy.
Delicious crispy fried chicken, fries etc. and almost entire menu is available gluten free. It's so wonderful to feel safe from cross contamination. Very knowledgeable staff give lots of details, e.g. they have dedicated fryer for chicken and other fried foods like chips and fries, use separate utensils for spreads... Owner has family with celiac, so they know how important it is to be careful.
Best gf fried chicken! They have a separate kitchen for cooking gf and almost everything on the menu can be adjusted.
Got glutened real bad. Sick for hours afterwards and still have a terrible migraine.
They glutened me GOOD, this was definitely a stronger reaction than I get to accidental contamination. I mentioned specifically that I'm celiac, so this isn't a "lack of awareness" situation.
Interesting that I had the Oakland Proposition chicken a bit before and it was fine. Judging by the reviews, something may be up with the one in SF.
Really disappointed because the food was good and the promise of gluten free was so convincing.
I’m celiac and specified a severe allergy. I tested my food twice with the nima sensor and it came back positive for gluten. Unfortunately I made the mistake of trusting this place, but no matter what you say to them, you can’t be sure. The wings and fries tested positive even though they were labeled as gluten free.
The staff seemed to be knowledgeable about what was gluten free. Unfortunately I was confident in their statements and got extremely sick while on vacation here. Not safe!
Gluten free fried chicken!!! Dedicated fryer so gluten fries too. My favorite is the salad, due to a really delicious baby kale, romaine, basil, mint mix. The staff is really knowledgeable about gluten free. Today they saved me from accidentally ordered malted mayo with my fries. I’ve eaten here dozens of times and never gotten sick, also it is delicious. They also do dairy-free and vegan.
Haven’t had fried chicken in so long. Glad to know places like this exist in the Bay Area. The gluten free bread was amazing!!!
I ordered gluten-free – it was clearly marked on the order. They gave me regular fried chicken. They have never done this before – but an experience like that is very unsafe and could leave someone so for a long time
