We had friends in from out of town and decided to try Pub 70. Pros: water views, menu has a lot of GF options, dedicated fryer and a variety of options. Cons: service was slow (really slow) so go when you have plenty of time, bathroom had a filthy stall the entire time we were there. Some of our party noticed it when we arrived from Pike Place and some of us used it before leaving and it was still not clean and completely unusable. The food was just ok. Fish and chips, chicken wings, fish tacos were all just ok. I would try it again if it was convenient but would not go out of my way to return which is disappointing because as a family with celiac disease we are always so excited to find a dedicated fryer and try items we normally can’t eat. Overall it was disappointing but number one concern of safety was met. Nobody was sick the next day. Why can’t we have both? Great tasting food AND safety?
I had a disheartening experience here - the menu indicates a dedicated GF fryer but when I double checked with the server he said it really isn’t because “by the end of the night it gets contaminated”. That doesn’t sound dedicated to me! I was disappointed to have to order a side salad instead of fries with my burger, and then even more disappointed when the salad came out with oats all over it. Seriously, who puts oats on a salad?! No way to know if they were GF so I played it safe and didn’t eat it. Can’t trust a place with GF all over the menu that doesn’t have any anti-cross contamination practices in place so I would skip this place if you’re celiac.
Awe had an amazing patio brunch on a sunny spring day! I am writing this months after we went and cannot wait to go back.
Ordered the gf tots and let the waitress know we were strictly gf. Toya came out with cheese sauce and when I double checked she said it had flour. My burger was dry and not great. Very expensive and crappy service. Do not trust this place if you are celiac. Very spendy and 22% gratuity for six or more people.
Ok - so excited to go here and the thought of being pups was exciting.
Decided to give it a try because dedicated gluten free fryer.
The young waiter was not able to answer questions about fryer. Then said it could be cross contaminated. So decided to talk to another waiter -‘who confirmed they had a dedicated fryer.
Brussels sprouts were horrible - tater tots full of oil, hot wings not crispy even though I asked for well done. Best item we got was Caesar salad.
Appreciate the attempt of GF but food just not good. And waitstaff not educated.
Been eating here for a few years now. It’s our go to in Seattle, not only has he never gotten glutened, the food is great, the view is awesome and we can bring our dog into the bar area or the patio. Gluten free chicken and waffles ($17) with a pitcher of mimosas($32) for brunch, thank you!
We stopped in for brunch last weekend and loved the place! Our server was knowledgable and recommended the GF fried chicken and waffle, and it did not disappoint! Really crispy waffle and the pickled peppers that came with it made for the perfect bite (chicken/waffle/maple syrup/pepper.) I tried the boozy Thai iced tea drink too and loved it. We can't wait to return!
Separate fryer, gluten free fries and lots of other options. Staff was knowledgeable and menu is clearly labeled.
Such a great experience. Dedicated gluten free fryer. Bread was amazing. Most of menu can be made gluten free. Had such delicious food: gluten free fried chicken sandwich with garlic fries. No contamination. Can’t remember when I had such delicious food. Staff were excellent
I was super excited to come here based on the reviews. When I talked to the server, she said that they had recently had a cross-contamination issue and could no longer guarantee that their food was Celiac-safe, especially during busy hours. It was early and few people were there so I took a chance. I ordered the chilaquile-style nachos with steak tips which they cooked in a clean pan. I asked if there were spices or marinade, she said no. When I tasted the steak, there was definitely some seasoning so I stopped eating. Nachos were fine. I don’t have wildly noticeable reactions but think I may have gotten sick after. They do have a dedicated fryer though, so I’ll be coming back for a fry fix at some point!
If you haven’t checked out Pub 70 yet, you absolutely need to!! Delicious food, super thorough staff, and a dedicated gluten-free fryer! The head chef even came out to talk me through all my concerns being celiac, and he has celiac himself so I knew I was in great hands!!
I didn’t get a picture of my food but highly recommend the gf fried chicken, and of course you can’t deny celiac-safe fries when available😋
Delicious food inspired by different cuisines. Gluten free fried chicken, burgers, soups, salads, breakfast benedicts, desserts, and beers! Fryer dedicated to gluten free meals to prevent cross-contamination.
Amazing service, tasty and rich food, and awesome rotating seasonal cocktails and menu items! Water front view, great music, and dog-friendly :)
