This restaurant is by far one of my favorites for gluten free options. I love their shrimp and grits, and their gluten free pancakes are the best I’ve ever had. The service is phenomenal. We’ve been probably 8 times, and have always had great service. They have all been really knowledgeable about celiac disease.
The menu was clear which items were gluten free, and they offered home made GF pasta substitution. I had the bolognese with GF linguine was amazing. No issues at all. The menu didn’t have a ton of items but was good and the spot was a cute dive.
I had the carbonera which was good, but $5 charge plus $1.25 split plate fee is ridiculous. Can't believe they expect me to order a full meal for each of the kids (4 and 2), they had the eggs flourentine to share. Yes it does state the split plate fee on the menu, but is missed the $5 gluten free charge. Gluten free options are limited as well and not very clear marked on menu, server struggled to find it.
I was excited to try Red Gravy, so we actually went out of our way to go. It was "meh". We were there for lunch, but VERY limited gf choices, so either breakfast or pasta. I really cringed at the $5 up charge on gf noodles, making a $20+ lunch. I ended up with a bean/kale/sausage soup and instead of a calzone the gave me a muffin from Girls Gone Vegan. The soup was good...but not knock-your-socks off.
I was very excited to eat here and then had a family emergency. I was unable to cancel my reservation. I was then charged $25 for the privilege. The food is probably alright, but I'm marking "No" on Celiac Friendly because the owner can't be described as friendly.
Great food, my wife is celiac and a very sensitive when it comes to gluten. We had breakfast there today. The blueberry muffin was awesome and the omelette was perfect. My wife did not get sick, this is priceless. The host was rude, and not kid friendly, but we would come back as it was safe
Service was incredibly slow it took an hour for our food to arrive. However it was delicious and safe even dessert option of 3-4 choices. Live music was great and friendly staff. Our kids were starving by the time they ate which was the only disappointment
I cannot express my full appreciation for this place, and owner Roe. call ahead to make sure, but they will most likely not only have fresh made gf pasta, but ravioli! I thanked Roe for making hands down the best gf pasta and ravioli ever, and she told me to come back and she'd have lasagna for me! Thank you Roe!! she also sells gf/vegan deserts made by a local bakery. My boyfriend who can eat anything he wants said the gf pasta was amazing. Please go try Red Gravy regardless of whether you are gf or not...you will not be disappointed!
Hands down one of my favorite places traveling ever. Our waitress was amazing. Roseann the owner was so amazing. A ton of options. Handmade GF pasta. Lots of egg meal options. So helpful and accomodating. Great dessert options. We even went back for more. This place is awesome and nailed every ounce of GF Celiac friendly.
Not a lot of options but the ones we had were amazing. I had Shrimp and grits and they were better than what I had at NOLA. They have a new gluten free pastry menu and the carrot cake raisin bar was awesome. Have to come back again. Came back the next morning and had the florentine eggs. Wow. Think it was better then the shrimp and grits.
Went here for brunch, otherwise would have gotten the fresh made GF pasta. Ordered the meat and cheese plate and a cheese and sausage omelet, which were delicious. Wait staff was very friendly and knowledgable about ingredients in menu items. Also all the coffee you could ever want.
They only had three options when I went today, but they are celiac friendly? "Down the shore" omelet, florentine eggs, and shrimp and grits is what the waitress told me I could have. I suppose that is great, but I went off of the guiding reviews on this app...and yeah... Three options, in my opinion, isn't super amazing....food arriving now. Just finished up my down the shore omelette. Can I just say- IT WAS DELISH. "The red gravy " is unbelievably light and packed with flavor. Grits, yummy. I would come back again. The sangria is bomb too :)
Very good food and reasonable. I had the omelette with grits that is gf. Wife had the pancakes that are not gf and she said it was delicious. I do hope someday they will serve gf pancakes and toast too, really would like a pancake, but not this time. Great place!
Wonderful food. Absolutely no problem with gluten free. - they have FRESH GF pasta! The staff is helpful and friendly and made us feel right at home. We came on Sunday and Spider Murphy was playing the banjo while we ate... Wow! We are only in NOLA for a couple days, but we will be back before we go. Finding GF food is hard here (flour and roux in everything) and finding a place I can eat without worrying is fantastic!
I read the other reviews and opted for the expensive ravioli. Ha! I added a piece of gluten free Italian Sausage. HOME RUN!!! The server was very knowledgable and he had me at "we use different water." The "red gravy" was awesome and I had no ill effects from anything - I'm pretty sensitive. There were quite a few gluten free options at this friendly place! Additionally, the drink menu is wonderful too. My husband had a chicken special that he was was outstanding.
My wife and I ate here this weekend with friends and loved it. This isn't one of those places where the only gluten free things they have are salmon and salad. From what I could tell I could have almost any pasta dish gluten free! The food was wonderful. The server was awesome, funny, and made good recommendations. This is one of those places where it seems like the owners and staff really love what they are doing.
Yes! Yes! Yes! We had breakfast here, and it was fresh and delicious! After breakfast, we broke protocol to have a nice dessert of almond cake. It's never too early for cake! We wanted to come back for the GF pasta and ravioli a but errands tied us up until they closed. We'll definitely be back. The owner was friendly and approached us about our needs. The server was a friendly one that made our meal pleasant.
Although they do not have a gluten free menu, they were able to make adjustments. They offer gluten free pasta for an extra charge. The pasta was not grainy but very good and thick. We would go there again. The kitchen staff was very knowledgeable.
we had a great and safe gluten free dining experience. While they don't have a gluten-free menu, the waiter (Alexander) was very knowledgeable and explained that they do have homemade gluten free pasta. It is made of almond and arrow root flours. It is a thick fettuccini style pasta. The tomato basil sauce was delicious with carmalized onions for extra flavor. They don't have a chicken pasts dish and don't allow substitions, oddly. As such, I ordered the chicken entree and my fellow GF dining companion had the GF pasta. We ate "family style," sharing our meals so we both had some chicken and pasta. The chicken was tender and married well with the pasta and red sauce. Dessert was also a treat. We split the chocolate hazelnut panna cotta and the paleo friendly chocolate chip cookies, made from almond a nd arrowroot flours. Can't wait to return and appreciate their carefulness at avoiding cross contamination with items containing gluten. That always gets an extra star rating from me.
No dedicated gf menu, but a lot of the menu can be made gluten free. All of the pastas, except the ravioli, can be made gluten free. I had the gf spaghetti red gravy, the pasta was very thick with great flavor. Super yummy! I also had breakfast there, and ordered the Tice Farm, which is an omelete filled with mozzarella, spiced apples, and bacon. Honestly the BEST omelet I have ever had. It's a very cute restaurant with a lot of charm.
