As a celiac with about three restaurants on my lunch rotation, I was desperate for something new. Red Lantern had very good GF reviews, so after checking out their online menu decided to give it a try. It was a weekday at 11:30; there were three other customers in the restaurant. RL lists a good number of gluten-free entrees.. I tried to order off the lunch menus gluten-free and was flatly refused. Flatly. Almost like how dare I ask. The entree (Hunan chicken) was one which is listed on the lunch menu as well as the GF menu. It requires little to no modification (soy sauce, probs). The reason I was given was that they don't have GF soup at lunch. I said I was fine with no soup (I frequently eat lunch at Tantra Bistro and this happens sometimes, no big deal). Then the server said they didn't have GF rice. I asked her what she meant because white rice is just white rice, there's nothing gluteney about it. Then she just repeated impatiently that I couldn't get gluten free on the lunch menu. To reiterate, most of the lunch entrees were things that were ALSO ON THE GF MENU. So if I could give them zero stars, I would. We celiacs are a captive audience and if you treat us well, you have us for life. I probably would have eaten there a few times a week, and gotten takeout dinners. I could have ordered a GF dinner entree but I wasn't hungry enough for an entree and quite frankly just tired of the pointless upcharges. This should have been so simple. Writing this as I have the GF lunch special at Tantra Bistro. Which I highly recommend.
— Separate gluten-free menu
Alway had a good experience here. Lot and menu options and tastes decent. Make sure to ask for gluten free soy sauce on the side, they often forget, but it definitely makes it taste way better.
My personal favorite is king pao chicken.

We have eaten here several times over the years. I usually order the mongolian beef off the gluten free menu. I have not had any reactions when I have eaten here. The other two in our group are able to eat regular items. Everyone enjoys Red Lantern night.

My husband and I ate here 3 times. The first 2 times they were not very busy. The third time they were. The 3rd visit I got super sick. I ordered the Mongolian Beef with gluten free soy sauce. Not sure what happened the 3rd visit, but it ruined it for me. I will never eat there again.

Food took forever to get delivered but that’s probably bc it was through mytown2go, but it was just very bland, i had to use so much sweet and sour sauce to get it down.
My family and I love this place. Best gluten free chinese in the Quad Cities. They do a great job with gf soy sauce dishes. #dontglutenme #glutenfreeyummy
Always get the gf chicken fried rice, it's amazing! Never been sick. They also have gf lettuce & meat appetizer that's delicious

The food was very delicious and felt great after eating here. So excited to find a Chinese restaurant that has GF options!
We got glutenend. Our server didn't understand that there was gluten in soy sauce when we asked for some.
This place is awesome. The food was some of the best I have had in a long time. When I asked my waitress for some salt and pepper, she bought out a little container with the salt and pepper, along with sugar, and a bottle of soy sauce. She immediately warned me that the soy sauce was not GF, but said she could bring me some if I needed it.
Great food, great staff, great location. Very happy to have a Chinese place nearby that has a gluten free menu and celiac-safe practices. Thank you Red Lantern!

One of my favorite places to eat and know as a celiac that I won't get sick. Very good food and service!

Haven't had Chinese in years due to soy sauce having gluten :( food was good but the martinis were terrible! Also got a fortune cookie at the end but that's not a big deal because I still like to read my fortune! I just give the cookie away (they never tasted like anything to me anyway!) kinda pricey but overall really good and I would like to try some different items next time! Also never got sick so that's a giant plus!

I have celiac disease and this was my first visit to this restaurant on Sunday evening. Business was slow, which is usually a good thing, for calming cross contamination concerns. My wife and I both ordered GF so that she could share her leftover items. We had chicken lettuce wraps for starters and she had chicken & broccoli and I had shrimp & cashews, both with brown rice. The food was good and service was okay. But with the check came two fortune cookies! What?? Are you kidding me, what part of Gluten Free don’t you understand??? Apparently most of it. Not a good feeling, sinking you might say… But the worst was yet to come late that evening, in the middle of the night, Monday morning and all the way into Tuesday evening as I write this. YES, I WAS GLUTENED and I feel terrible! If you too have celiac disease I suggest you stay away from this restaurant. Sorry, I just report it as I see it and feel it.

Very nice restaurant with a gf menu and knowledgable staff!
Great food and service.

Slow service and my GF dish was so salty I couldn't taste anything else. My friends all seemed to like theirs though. Service was super slow and they weren't busy at all. I would skip it and go to Exotic Thai.
Two stars because I didn't get sick. Ordered the chicken lettuce wraps for an appy and they were great, but I can't say the same about my meal - it was bland. For the price I would not go back. Service was sub par and they were not busy at all.
Excellent food and great service. A comprehensive gluten free menu.

An oriental restaurant that has many delicious gluten-free items listed on a separate menu. Prices are reasonable, you can eat in or take out and the food is good.
