Review of Restaurante Dom Pedro I

I write this review with mixed emotions. The chef was so kind and aware of gluten issues and seemed like a genuinely wonderful person. That being said the food was substandard. The French fries were wonderful. I got a steak, ordered it medium rare and it came out as if it was cooked under a heat lamp, it was borderline tartar. I don’t like to fuss so I was just going to demure from eating it, but he saw me and asked if he should cooked it more so I took him up on his offer. It came back closer to actually having been cooked but it was still utterly without flavor. Really hoping the rawness of it doesn’t make me ill. The chocolate mousse for dessert was very light and wonderful. Again it’s a cute place but at least the steak was not good. They also don’t take credit cards, luckily I had gotten euros during the day.
