Yummy! Had a great dinner here. We walked in & were seated as a table - the bar was full & they said the table was ours until a reservation at 7:45 (it was 5:45 - plenty of time!). Full review below, but in sum: lovely experience, great food, I felt very well cared for and most of all felt like I didn’t have less of an experience/meal than my gluten-eating mom.
First things first: the non-filled pastas can be made gf (honestly most of the pastas were filled, there are ~3 or so that were not & could be modified gf). Also no gf bread.
We started with the burrata (with prosciutto). I am a burrata fanatic and it was delicious - fresh and creamy. We were given two fennel one-bite dishes “compliments of the chef” & mine was modified gluten free! I forget what exactly they were but it was super delicious (and normally I hate fennel). My server recommended the tagliolini al ragu or spinach stracci for my pasta and I chose the former. It was very yummy, not as delicious as the gf pastas I’ve eaten in Italy but definitely better than most gf pasta dishes I’ve had in the US.
We also had funghi reali arrostiti for the side and I liked it, but probably wouldn’t order it again. For dessert, my mom ordered the olive oil cake & they were kind enough to put the olive oil gelato in a separate dish on the side (without me asking!) so I could try the olive oil gelato. It was delicious and unique.
Right before we left, we got two chocolates compliments of the chef - one was pistachio crème and the other was orange jam filled (I think…orange something lol). Both were incredible and the perfect end to our meal.
All of the non-filling pastas can me made gluten tree as well as most of the non-pasta plates. The waiter was very knowledgable of what contained gluten or not and was open to modify some plates so I could eat them. They had two different types of gluten free pasta, both really good. Overall, incredible restaurant!
This is not a dedicated kitchen but it is amazing. Ate there last night with no problem. They have one gluten free pasta (corn based) but a selection of sauces (ragus). This is not a vegan or vegetarian friendly place - few options there. Got Gluten free all the Secondi dishes, half the pasta sauces and most first courses are fine. I had the cheese and the cured meats (best mortadella I have had in the States and Italy). I had the house ragu and my boyfriend almost cried over it (it was that good.). Had the rabbit for Secondi and it was delish and generous portion. The desserts were fabulous and more than half the dessert menu was gluten free. We had the gelato and the meringue. So good. This place gets full fast but the bar has unreserved seats. They don’t offer any gluten free bread options but we didn’t even notice with the cheese and cured meat. The waiter told the kitchen I was a Celiac and they had good practices. I also stopped in a few days before going and spoke with the executive chef and knew they “got it.” Also the owners are from Italy which has fantastic Celiac protocol.
