I tried this place twice, and I have celiac disease and I am certain I was poisoned the second time. The first time I just had pho. The second time I had a spring roll and pho. If you are going to try it, be very very clear about cross contamination and don’t assume they know how to handle your dietary needs just by saying gluten free allergy (which is what I told them).
I used to love this place--I have went three or so times before. Yesterday, I went in to dine-in off of the gluten free menu. I told my server that I am celiac (no gluten) and they confirmed that there is no cross contamination on their gluten free menu items. Half way through the meal I felt shooting pains in my stomach, immediately got sick, and vomited. I ask about the tofu in the crispy rice dish, because it appeared to be fried upon investigation, and their face immediately turned upside down as they explained to me they fry their tofu in the same fryer as gluten items. They tried to tell me that the "gluten gets burned off in the fryer, so there is nothing to worry about." This is extremely incorrect information. If you are gluten free because you have an allergy or celiac disease, you will get ill eating at Rice Paper.
They did not take me seriously when I explained that I was going to be very sick due to their lack of competency. Today I had to take off work, pay $250 for a medical IV of fluids, and spend my day on the toilet. I hope they change their gluten free menu so that people don't get as sick as I am.
