UPDATE: I have spoken to the owner at length about this. I reviewed video footage of the kitchen and can confirm they take great cross contamination precautions when asked. The issue is that this cafe has been serving regular bread, containing malted barley flour, for 2 years and marking it GF. The owner had no idea that malted barley flour is gluten. I gave information on the FDA certified labels & suggested different breads. I’m horrified that this went on so long but attempted to use this as a learning moment for the owner. She is discontinuing their current “GF” bread and switching.

I ordered a breakfast sandwich and plain latte and informed them of the allergy and specifically requested GF bread. About 2 hours later I became violently sick. The restaurant does have signs stating they cannot guarantee no cross contamination, but given the extent of how sick I got I am fairly confident I was given the completely wrong bread. I spoke to the owner who confirmed this happened to another customer the same weekend. She informed me she spoke with her kitchen staff about it. I still would not recommend the food for Celiac.

If you are celiac, don't order food here. It'll make you sick due to cross contamination. Their food is gluten sensitive not gluten free. The atmosphere is great so go there to grab a coffee and relax.

I got a latte and some Nutella-banana toast that I was assured was GF. I ended up driving up north after in traffic and felt sicker and sicker as the drive went on- the second I arrived at my destination I had to bust through the door and threw up at my friend’s house. I’m not sure if it was the coffee or the bread that had gluten, but I haven’t been back.

No safety protocols, still was glutened even though they promised to use tin foil

This place is gorgeous, great aesthetic but they should not advertise gluten free. I was asked if I had an allergy or preference. My sandwich came out wrapped in tin foil. But... it became clear later that they gave me actual bread wrapped in tin because I ended up in the hospital my reaction was so bad. I have been celiac for half a decade and I have never been so ill in my life. Careless, poor service.

Quality food for those with out celiac/gluten intolerance

Have gone here multiple times over the years because I love the atmosphere and location, but I just went here for dinner and am now getting sick from gluten. I have celiac but am not usually that sensitive to cross contamination. I felt ill after one of the previous times I’d gone here, but I brushed it off. I’m assuming they gave me regular bread as my friend who is also allergic to gluten and shared the nachos with me was fine. They also messed up our order in general a few times so I believe it wasn’t the fault of the waitress who we informed we had allergies and the fault of the kitchen. Not eating here again.

I love the power muffins here. They also have a good chocolate c hip cookie. I ordered the Feta sandwich with no feta as I don't eat dairy. It is a scrambled egg sandwich with spinach and pesto -very tasty. Had it on gluten free bread. They also have almond milk instead of just cream for coffee. Coffee is incredible!

Very good. They can modify most items on menu to be gluten free. Tried for the first this morning, had a gluten free breakfast sandwich and it was delicious. I will definitely go back! Great coffee as well. It is expensive compared to other local options, but I found the quality of the sandwich to be worth the difference in price.

Not impressed unfortunately I was looking for a nice coffee shop with some gf options. The over priced one gf muffin was just ok. I was excited to have an almond milk latte but it was not very good.

My husband and I stumbled upon this place a few months ago. We were just happy to find a nice coffee place to relax in. I never thought to ask if they had GF but my husband ended up asking for me and they do have GF bread! They also have GF chocolate chip cookies and muffins. The staff seems pretty well educated on what has gluten in it and is more than happy to help. The last time we were there the owner was roasting the coffee and took the time to explain the whole process to us. I'm not celiac but am very gluten sensitive and have never gotten sick. The coffee is beyond amazing so go visit even if you're not hungry!
