We ate here safely. GF food was marked and server was knowledgeable. They were able to make a couple of the burgers GF and the grilled cheese for my kids.

Not sure about the safety - too soon to tell for me. Did not seem clean. There was a really long wait so people must love it. Can’t say I understand why but I am clearly the minority based on wait. Husband’s burger was delicious, my food was good not great and kids were not impressed at all. The floors were sticky, silverware sticky, place was HOT - like no air conditioning hot - so if you go, go in winter or sit right by wall unit. Bathrooms were gross. Overall we probably won’t be back.

I always enjoy a delicious and safe gf breakfast here when we visit San Marcos. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

We were concerned about cross contamination on gluten free food because of the small kitchen but my wife did very well. The food was great and no adverse reactions.

Visiting friends in San Marcos, we came to Root Cellar on our first full day here. The biggest reason this place was chosen is because both my daughter and I are gluten-free. The menu items are pretty well-marked on the menu, though all of the sandwiches can be made gluten-free with gluten-free bread. My daughter was happy to get the french toast with gf bread. There is a $2 charge for gf bread, but compared to where we live in California, the prices are great. My daughter loved having the root beer, which is made with organic sugar. We had $2 mimosas--for the original with OJ, but $4 for the flavored ones. We found that out when we got the bill--the sign said "$2 mimosas". We didn't feel any symptoms after eating there and I usually do (I saw the earlier review from a man who said his wife had been glutened).
They glutenized my wife after discussion about celiacs. Places that make her sick for three days are worth avoiding
Nice mimosas
Eggs Florentine only dish out of four that was good
There are tons of options on their menu. Got the prosciutto and asparagus risotto.
