I love this place! The quiches are out of this world, and the muffins are always so moist and delicious. The place just feels good when you walk inside. I found out yesterday that everything is gluten free- everything— and celiac friendly as well. I had no idea how good that could be.
Very nice atmosphere and a gluten intolerant person’s heaven! Most GF places are good at only a couple of items; however, I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality of the food and coffee! Well done Roots Cafe! I had the savory crepe with a small salad. Wow! I have to tell you, the freshness was apparent and the desserts were A-mazing. I have not had pastries taste this good since developing a allergic reaction to gluten over 6 years ago. I now have a go-to place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also, I noticed they have live music on Friday and Saturday nights. I will be coming back frequently. Don’t take my word for it my GF friends, try it out for yourselves.
Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and everything is Gluten Free! I love that it’s consistent with their mission of whole ingredients and no preservatives in their food. They use organic greens and no nitrate in their meat. Their quiches are amazing! I’ve never tasted a crust to light and flakey. And they’re crepe sandwiches! Amazeballs! Their pastries are ever changing. They have new flavors of cupcakes almost every week and those square cakes! It doesn’t taste like you’re eating gluten free products at all. I spoke with one of the owners and asked why they don’t designate their restaurant as Gluten-Free and she said why would we want to limit our food for just gluten free customers? We want everyone to enjoy our products and enjoy eating whole food with no preservatives and dyes. I say awesomeness! They truly care about their customers and their well being.
According to them, everything is gluten free, so I'm not understanding their explanation of separate prep. The front of the menu says, "Lots of gluten free choices", but nothing on the menu is marked gluten free, indicating to me they want to hide the fact from "regular" eaters. I was told "everything here is gluten free". Their "crepe" is actually an omelet, into which you can choose inclusions. So why call it a crepe?? Doublespeak again! Mine was plopped onto a fancy plastic plate with no garnish, nothing. And $9. The chocolate chip cookies were good. My companion reported the soup very good but this was her 3rd visit and she didn't plan on coming back just for soup. It just wasn't that good. And I can't comment on Celiac friendly.
Love the gluten free aspects but there are a couple changes that need to happen. 1. Their cupcakes were rock hard. 2. I ordered an early dinner twice about 2hours before closing time and that ran out of cheese puffs. I was told that they didn’t want to let them go to waste but seriously, TWO hours.?!? Positives- Great Soup and Awesome salads. I will definitely go back but never in the evening.
