My 12 year old (diagnosed 2 mths ago) went on her own with two friends for a bday celebration. The mom added her Celiacs diagnosis to the reservation and the waitress was very helpful. She loved her meal and it was a great opportunity for her to start learning what questions she needs to ask when going out on her own. (I did send her with a half loaf of GF Artisan bread so she could enjoy in the bread dipping in the oils and spices…in her own dish. This use to be her favorite place to do this). It would be great to see restaurants offer Gf bread for this. Thanks Rosalies! For being patient as my newly diagnosed 12yr old navigates through learning how she can safely eat out with her friends without her parents.
Ate here the other night with no symptoms or problems after. The waiter was patient and kind when answering all of my questions. He guided me through the menu and let me know what would and wouldn’t be safe with the gf pasta substitute. My pasta was delicious, and my family loved their meals too! I’ll be back.
When I made the online reservation, I explained in the comment section that my daughter and I were gf due to celiac. Someone called me to tell that she was going to tell the chef that we were coming, and that I should not worry—we’d have a great gf meal. And we certainly did! The waiter arrived at our table and knew already; he said that the gf pasta of the evening was penne, which could be used to sub for any pasta on the menu. Our meal was 5 star fabulous! This was honestly the best dining out experience that we’ve had since being diagnosed a few years ago!
