Meats are mostly gluten free except for pulled pork. I got glutened by the creamed corn which has wheat in it so be careful.

Every time I come here, the staff is great. The chef will change his cutting boards and get a new knife. EI’ve used my Nima sensor on the smoked turkey on multiple occasions and gluten is never detected. Bbq sauce is also GF! We love this place !

Visiting Austin from Utah and ate here. The workers were knowledgeable and they had an allergen list. I ordered the turkey, brisket and cole slaw. It was delish and I didn't get sick and I am sensitive celiac. Will definitely back.

They don’t have a specific GF menu, but with some common sense this is a great GF safe option. Hold the bread, and be smart. Celiac, very sensitive, I eat here weekly with no reaction or issues. Potato salad good, slaw good, ribs (PR and baby) good, brisket good, hot links good, chicken good.

This place does not specifically have a gluten free menu but you can find an allergen menu on google but not their website. I gave this place 3 stars is to caution the celiac newbies but if you are a celiac veteran that knows what questions to ask this place will surprise you. The staff I encountered were knowledgeable and the meat seasoning they use is gluten free.

All meats are good and so are beans and slaw. Just ensure no bread. Sissy sauce is also good. Love it. Brisket stuffed potato awesome

I’ve been there twice and they have treated me great. I indicate I have gluten intolerance and they clean up everything, bring out different cutting boards, etc. Be sure to try Rudy’s BBQ sauce. It’s gluten free and tastes great.

10/2018. Ordered turkey and individual order of potato salad to go. I have fairly new celiac diagnosis so asked them to clean knife before cutting turkey. They gladly took cutting board in back and cleaned it and knife and other utensils before carving mine. Turkey and rub is GF but I am being extra careful. I didn’t try Rudy’s sauce this time but will on later visit (they warn some are sensitive to vinegar in it). Thanks Rudy’s for offering GF items and your great staff training. Didn’t have any problems and added GF bread and Sweet Baby Rays GF honey BBQ sauce at home. Nice to have another safe option! Update 10/2019 - have eaten here tons of times in past year and had no issues. Also did fine with their lean brisket and sauce and pickles and onions. Advise that you take own gf bread if you want it.

Loved the food and style of the place, as I was a rookie the server had me try all the meats which are all gf and then select. I had brisket moist with sides of potato salad & coleslaw. So cheap too

Rudy’s is my go to restaurant! One of the only places I regularly eat at that I have never gotten sick! As long as you avoid the obvious, bread, mac and cheese, etc. you are good. Some of their meats do have MSG so check for that if you’re sensitive to it. Definitely Celiac safe and I am very sensitive!

I asked for the allergen menu which was a list of things that **did** have gluten rather than the other way around. It was a little hard for me to wrap my brain around that. I would rather see what I can eat. There were lots of options. Most the meat was okay (not pulled pork) and several of the sides (not creamed corn or the Cole slaw). Then when I ordered, they started cutting up the meat before I could ask them to use a different cutting board and knife but they switched to a new board with a new chunk of meat. So as long as you are very clear that it needs to be gluten free I think it's okay. So I rated it celiac safe. I felt like the food was just meat and potatoes. No veggies. So I felt a little off after. But it tasted good.

Don't let the fact that it's a gas station fool you. Amazing food. All the meats are GF. They do safe handling right in front of you, and my celiac son had no reaction. Many of the sides have gluten, but my son had the smoked loaded baked potato. The 18 year old bottomless pit couldn't finish it. They gave him separate small containers of sauce to avoid cross contamination from table bottles.

Seems most of their smoked meats are gf. We bought sliced meats for takeout that were delicious. My husband watched them carefully to make sure there was no cross contamination as it’s not a gf facility. I’m happy to see this is a chain across the Southwest.

I was excited as they have updated their online allergen menu to be very clear and easy to read. Everything we ordered was listed as not containing gluten. Immediately after eating, I felt nauseated, and since (2 days later now) have been experiencing symptoms I only get with gluten, and have avoided for over a year until now. We will not be able to go back here, sadly, since the online allergen info is clearly not correct.

They have an allergen menu that tells what contains wheat/ gluten. They changed their utensils and when we asked about gloves, since they don't use any, put some on for ours. Lots of meat selection... the pulled pork isn't but all the other pork and beef is and honestly, those are the better meats anyways! They took their time with us and our questions despite how busy they were.

We’ve ordered Rudy’s for two of my visits to Waco and I’ve had a great experience both times. Yummy, safe food. Just avoid the creamed corn because it has gluten.

We eat here all the time. Most of their stuff is safe and they have an allergy list at the counter. Oddly, the pulled pork isn’t gluten free, which surprised us. Anything that touches their meat cutting area is gluten free so no cross contamination there. Half their sides come pre packed in a cooler, and the other half are scooped from large kettles. I could see opportunity for cross contamination there, as there are often multiple servers scooping out of multiple kettles at once, and I could see how some of the creamed corn (not gf) could fall into the potatoes or beans (both gf), so if you are super sensitive maybe skip those? Also make sure to tell the person helping you “no bread” right off the bat as they grab a big handful with paper and pile it on top of the rest of your food.

Claim to have gluten free options however staff does not use gloves and is not educated on gluten - they thought it was butter. I contacted the manager the next day as I was violently ill afterwards and all he did was defend their procedures - that no one has ever asked them to wear gloves after handling bread when serving a celiac. Why do they have an allergen menu if they aren't going to have the simplest of procedures in place to ensure that cross contamination doesn't occur?

Most of the menu is listed as gluten free on their website with the exception of the pulled pork and the obvious villains like bread and pie. A favorite of our gluten-free relatives.

Amazing! A lot of the meat and sides are all GF. I ask them to cut the meat on a clean cutting board to avoid any CC. I always get the regular sausage and lean brisket with beans and potato salad. All BBQ sauce is GF but I get the tiny sealed ones instead of using the community bottles at the table. Great food and fun atmosphere.

UPDATE 2017 - It seems the management may have changed - the knowledge was no longer there and I felt unsafe. I dined there anyway (to appease my significant other - stupid me) and I got REALLY SICK. ******************************************************************* They don't have a separate menu but are familiar with people who must be GF and need to avoid cross contamination. I have eaten here MANY times - I've ordered salads and a few different entrees and no problem. My favorite is the applewood smoked chicken - I get it with string beans and cinnamon apples - delicious! If they're unsure of something they will come ask you - not guess. Love this place!

Awesome customer service. They changed out the cutting board, cutting utensils, and even the meat for a fresh piece to slice from. No issues whatsover for anyone in the family. and their menu is labeled really well online with all the main allergies. Very grateful

Most of the meats and sauces do not contain gluten! (The pulled pork does contains gluten, so steer clear of that one!) There are also a few sides to choose from that do not contain gluten such as some of the chips, potatoes, and beans. No gluten free bread, so you can’t have the sandwiches. They do have big potatoes you can top with the meat of your choice though! They don’t have a gluten free menu, this info is from the allergen list on their website.

I think I got glutened here. I ate ribs and the sauce taking the lid off and pouring it to avoid cc- around 7, then I woke up at 1am puking. Not sure if the meat was undercooked or what, but my stomach definitely was queasy pretty bad the next morning.

I absolutely LOVE eating at every Rudy’s location we’ve been to. They know what is in their foods, understand allergen cross-contamination issues and just care in general. Ask to see their allergen listing & to use a clean prep/cutting board. They are always happy to be sure you are safe eating there.
