A bit bored with the usual restaurant options in the area, my husband and I decided to try Runa before a show at Count Basie and we were not disappointed. First, it's extremely convenient, practically right across the street. Second, the food is delicious. And third, I love a good BYOB, so we can bring our own great bottle of wine. Downsides are that the restaurant is very small, so I highly recommend reservations, and the service might be a bit slow when they're trying to get everyone out in time for the show, but the staff is friendly and helpful and the food is delicious. Well worth it, in my opinion. They have many GF options indicated on the menu. We shared the cebice classico as an appetizer which was heavenly...very fresh tasting and perfectly seasoned. For dinner, I had the Aroz con pollo (mostly because I needed a gluten free option.) I was worried it was going to be a boring choice, but boy was I wrong! Absolutely one of the best meals I've had in awhile, and the portion was so large I barely ate half of it. (Bonus: lunch leftovers!) We have tickets for another show in a few weeks, and I'm already hoping to go back.
Runa offered a surprisingly excellent meal. After speaking with a server earlier, I was informed there were only a few options that were GF but decided to go with some friends anyway. Good thing I did. Once there the owner, Marita explained and I found there were more than enough options and ever thing was fantastic. The chicken was great, as was the quinoa salad and the ceviche. Even flan dessert was great. Glad to have another delicious option in town. Way to go Marita!
