Review of Sabor Latino Peruvian Cuisine

I feel obligated to write this review. I have Celiac disease (newly diagnosed) , and had to stop somewhere for lunch. As soon as I walked in, i asked the waiter if they had a gluten free menu, or gluten free items and he said yes. He mentioned the lomo saltado was gluten free and I said to skip the French fries just in case. He left and as my order was being prepared, it dawned on me that there’s no way that the lomo saltado was gluten free because it had soy sauce. So I immediately called the waiter, hoping they hadn’t put the sauce yet. An older lady, who i assume to be the owner, came out and said yes, the soy sauce had gluten, but too bad, they already made it ! I said I couldn’t eat it, and the lady very rudely scolded me, told me it’s my responsibility to know what has gluten and what doesn’t ( I do know, but they never mentioned soy sauce ) and that her or her employees don’t know what has and what doesn’t have “ that stuff that makes you gain weight” (I have Celiac ) The waiter was very nice and insisted he could prepare something else. This is where the 2 stars come from. He was a gentleman or else I would’ve had to pay for 2 plates. This is a food establishment, not a hair salon. I don’t expect them to know everything, but they should either know which foods have an allergen, or flat out say they don’t know. People with any allergies or intolerances BEWARE. Not only will they not know, but they will scold you for not knowing the ingredient composition of their own plates..
