The service and food here was amazing! The server said they could sub any roll with snow crab for the imitation crab ($4 upcharge), and the chef personally made our rolls to make sure they were safe (they have gf soy sauce). We have been here twice now and so far we've had the Lydia #6, Viva Las Vegas, Mexican Roll, and High Maintenance. Do yourself a favor and stop by!
I’ve eaten here twice and I’m sure I’ll be back many times as my family loves the sushi — it really is amazing, and so far I haven’t had a reaction. They are very aware of gluten and willing to work with you to make almost any roll gluten free. There are three listed on the menu as gluten free, but they aren’t as interesting as some of the other menu options so it’s nice to have other rolls made gluten free as well. Be aware that for some there could be an up-charge (for example, if they sub real crab for the crab mix) but sometimes it’s just leaving off a sauce. Just don’t be afraid to ask a lot of questions! If your server doesn’t know the answer see if they’ll find someone who does.
Delicious sushi! They actually have 3 GF rolls on the menu, and these aren’t lame rolls, either. They’re worthy of being in the specialty rolls list. They will also sub out blue crab for the imitation crab if you ask (upcharge applies). Brought us GF soy sauce too. The nigiri was some of the best we’ve had anywhere.
Sake toro sushi is THE PLACE to be if you’re needing a relaxed atmosphere with many gluten free options. Logan (front of house) is very knowledgeable about gluten free and Celiac and was training a new server about gluten free and celiac. So the fact that they take it seriously is amazing in itself and shows they truly care about ALL their customers. It does help to call in advanced and let them know you’ll need accommodation but there was no in depth explanation needed. All I said was, “I would like to know if you can do gluten free as we have celiac.” She (Logan) said not a problem and was fine! Explained that they took extra precaution with their gluten free sashimi, nigiri, rolls and have tamari. They have 3 gluten free sushi rolls too! Their yuzu sauce is gluten free as well! The quality of service we received was amazing from all the staff (Kevin made our sushi), and the quality of fish was a big thumbs up as well! Their hot sake is also gluten free! We got plenty of pieces in our California roll and ordered too much but it was a birthday so why not! Definitely give this place a shot!
I called in advance, and they were very knowledgeable about celiac disease and happily answered my questions. When I showed up, they knew I was the one who called and walked me through the menu and pointed out what they could / could not make gluten free. I had a few rolls, which were all great. Had no issues with cross contamination.
I would not recommend. I ordered a GF california roll and the whole roll was 6 pieces that was basically a snack. It tasted ok but did not fill me up at all. Might as well have been an appetizer
