They were straight up with us, when we mentioned gluten, they looked and sounded uncomfortable and were forthright that they don’t think they could handle a gluten-free meal. When we asked about sushi, they were nice enough to ask the sushi Chef who told them that gluten was in the seaweed wrapper for the sushi.
