The food was great and the menu was clearly marked. They said they had a separate fryer for GF so I ordered French fries which were great. I got the shrimp & grits which were wonderful. The regular were a bit spicy but I like spicy, so just be aware if you don’t like too much spice. We will definitely add this restaurant to our rotation.
Great service-especially for a Friday evening. Very knowledgeable staff! Food was hot and very tasty! Menu is well marked. We had the bacon wrapped barbecue shrimp, and the shrimp and grits-recommended by our server, Amy-felt like an old friend!

Amazing food. I’m very sensitive to gluten and I was completely fine. The staff was knowledgeable. Overall amazing experience. I got the mango shrimp and it was amazing.
This place is a down home shrimp and grits restaurant. They did understand GF. I’m also dairy free which adds hmm factor. I had the bacon wrapped shrimp w bbq sauce and sweet potato fries. They had several options for gluten free sides. Very generous servings and felt safe.
Two words for you: RED LETTERS.
Salty Papa’s has a massive menu and clearly marks in red letters which items are GF, of which there are so many!
I ate the mango and sweet chili grilled shrimp with a side of sweet potato fries and cheesy grits, and left feeling quite full.
They take gluten exposure serious. Pleasant and delicious!

Bacon wrapped shrimp were amazing. staff was very knowledgeable and I felt safe eating here. no reaction. I was stuffed at the end. delicious.
Don’t let the outdoor appearance fool you! The bacon wrapped shrimp was very good and loved having safe sweet potato fries. We ordered the mud puppy dessert and it was amazing!
Delicious shrimp. Did I mention the shrimp was fabulous? It was. This Celiac woman was pleasantly surprised at the gf options here. Great mashed potatoes and cole slaw as well. My waiter said they have a dedicated fryer for French fries and sweet potatoes fries. Ate there last night and symptom free! Wish the staff had been more knowledgeable at the front but the hostess said she wanted to confirm with others that they would avoid cross contamination; and she did. A win all round for me! I want to go back already.
We came here for dessert but spoke with server about GF options. They have a dedicated fryer for the fries!! The server said they do take precautions for cross contamination. The Mud Puppy dessert was AMAZING! I had to check the menu over 3 times to be sure it was GF.

We have eaten here three times in the last 10 days. I enjoyed the peel and eat shrimp appetizer, the bacon wrapped shrimp, Naked shrimp with cheese grits, and the cast iron chicken dinner with rice. They substituted a side dish for the bread with that last meal, without me even asking! The only issue I came across was the fries cooked in pure soybean oil, which set off hot flashes! The menu is well marked, and the co-owner came around to check on us and talked to us. A wonderful choice!
Knowledgeable staff, dedicated fryer for fries, etc. both hand cut and sweet potato options. No RSVP and all manual wait system was the only complaint. Good food.
Great Celiac safe dining. Top quality fresh seafood carefully prepared with many gluten free choices. Menu lists which items are gluten free and preparation options (blackened, grilled, pan sautéed, broiled). Peel & Eat Shrimp with Sunset Butter is a specialty and outstanding. Everything is always cooked to perfection, served promptly, and absolutely fabulous. They have a dedicated fryer so you can enjoy their fantastic homemade sweet potato fries! Servers are knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. There is a full bar with reasonably priced and well made drinks. If you love seafood, this is one of the best. Family friendly atmosphere. Dog friendly outdoor seating. I’ve eaten here often over the last seven years and have never been disappointed.

Everything was clearly marked and they said they have a separate fryer for French fries. I had the hand cut and they were good! Had the bacon wrapped and peach/bourbon shrimp both were good. I am super sensitive and didn’t get sick. Server double check exes things because he was new, which I appreciated
Absolutely amazing. I felt like I was in good hands with a knowledgeable staff and there were so many options to choose from! For the taste, safe prep, and reasonable pricing, it’s definitely worth a visit! Truly a great example on how any restaurant can make their menu more accessible for people with gluten sensitivities!
Great number of options being an old school fish house. Everyone knew what my kids needed to be safe and they loved the food. Had steak, fish, shrimp and the celiac safe fries - very successful and delicious
I have a gluten allergy so was looking forward to trying this place out for the first time. They have a great menu with lots of GF options clearly marked on the menu. The food was great and the bartender Antonio was great and very friendly!! Would definitely recommend and looking forward to going back again to try more things on the menu!

I have eaten here twice and both have been amazing and I not gotten sick. They label thing on the menu as gluten free. And the best part, dedicated fryer so the French fries are gluten free! Their sweet potato fries are amazing and I totally recommend this place to fellow celiacs!
I have eaten here twice - Once in the afternoon and once in the evening . As a celiac - my meal was safer in the afternoon as there wasn’t as many people there. In the evening, it was packed and later that evening I had some symptoms of eating gluten. I ordered the same thing both times - and the meal was better at lunch also!
I’m a celiac and after getting frustrated trying to find a place to eat, I found Salty’s. Excellent server, understood Celiacs. Many menu options to choose from and very good food. I highly recommend this place.
Just not a good overall experience here. Which makes me very sad. We even followed other reviews and came early to avoid rush. Waiter wouldn’t even listen, messed up our order, food was prepared with GLUTEN so then they had to remake it and we didn’t eat for 50 mins. They forgot our appetizer completely and it took my husband 20 min to get his beer that had to be re-poured because it sat so long. Only fried item they had was fries and yes, it’s a dedicated fryer. Supply chain issue they had no other GF fried food. Really was hoping for a better experience than what we got. If it wasn’t for the lead in the kitchen who noticed the gluten they would have SERVED ME the dish still AFTER they took the bread off. Very disappointing. The chicken was dry and bland. The fries were cold.
Food here was quite tasty, lots of fried food. I had the shrimp wrapped in bacon and fried. They have a dedicated GF fryer (make sure you ask for it though or you might not get it by default). Server was knowledgeable about GF options. They also have options for outside seating for covid which was nice. I didn't get sick, so all good.
Had dinner here on 11/22/21. The food was good (cheeseburger, coleslaw and sweet potato fries) and the service was decent, however, my burger was brought on a bun which was not gluten free. Grateful I noticed before I took a bite.
It was apparently a miscommunication between the waiter and me - even though I told him I had Celiac, I did not say I didn’t want a bun. Bottom line, this place is definitely worth a try (the owner has Celiac and they have two dedicated fryers), just be very clear when you order.
All I can say is that the shrimp and grits are amazing!! Best I’ve ever had. But to be honest, it wasn’t even what I ordered, my husband did and I couldn’t stop stealing bites from his dinner. He (not GF) loved it as much as I did. I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp which was very good as well. And to be able to have sweet potato fries on the side, yum. Overall, the place was great. Awesome service, yummy food. I highly recommend.
Ordered the peach/bourbon shrimp w/bean & fries. I have a dairy allergy as well and we talked about it in detail with the server that continued to nod her head and say “I’ll make sure to verify everything with the kitchen.” I thought I had a backup plan. As my husbands meal was being put on the table I was told I could not have the shrimp or the beans. Ordered a salad that I then waited 10m for. :/
Had an overall good experience. Tested the food with the Nima. Fries came back gluten found. Shrimp, grits, ranch dressing came back gluten free. I would recommend avoiding and fried foods.
Ate here during our vacation and was able to eat outside on the sand. The shrimp was the best I had during our trip. Loved this place
The food was fantastic-however it was sooo slow! Took us over an hour to get our food. To be fair, it is COVID and this restaurant is actually practicing social distancing. If you are ok with dairy-this shrimp and grits is amazing!!

Awesome service! Awesome food! Great understanding of gluten free and cross contamination! All fries are fried in one frier so there’s no chance of breadcrumbs getting in the oil. Did I mention the food was amazing? Be sure to get anything with shrimp and try the sunset butter. I also had bacon wrapped shrimp with the specifically GF BBQ sauce.
They have a separate gluten free menu and the food was pretty good. Excellent mud puppy dessert. French fries are in a dedicated fryer. My celiac child got a cheeseburger but no bun. Wish there were a couple more gf options on kids menu but plenty for adults. Fun to have a whole table of paper to color on and fun atmosphere.
Any place that has a dedicated fryer is a place that I want to try out. Salty Papa’s did not disappoint. I left full, happy, and didn’t have a reaction to what I ate.
The gf menu is great! Appetizers, meal and desserts! Awesome! Brought friends that enjoyed everything they ordered (non gf).
Ordered Cajun peel and eat shrimp, green beans, and sweet potatoes fries. Everything was delicious, especially the shrimp. After eating I had no ill effects.
This restaurant is absolutely delicious! I had blackened shrimp and scallops with french fries! It’s been forever since i’ve been able to have french fries, and they have a dedicated fryer. We will definitely come back!

Yummy gf blackened chicken, fries, and peanut butter chocolate pie. Can't ask for much more. I don't know how I didn't try this place sooner other than I don't like seafood and didn't realize they have other options! Definitely will be back.

What a great place to eat for celiacs! There was a gf menu with several appetizers, salads, entrees, and desserts to choose from. They have a dedicated fryer, too. Everything was fresh and homemade. I had bacon wrapped shrimp with fries and a delicious dessert called “Mud Puppy!” Our server was very knowledgeable about gf choices. They take a serious gluten allergy to heart!
