I love salvi! Everything is fresh and so so good. It’s my go to spot for pupusas and French fries, and the people are the best!
Service is really bad, ordered drinks at the register and then had to do an online order for food too because they said they wouldn’t take food orders in person. Food was mediocre and took a long time, the staff were kind of rude, and I think there’s much better GF beers around, but I didn’t get sick
I would recommend to reset expectations if you’ve ever had papusas before and especially if you have had Salvadoran papusas before. Compared to every Salvadoran papusa I’ve had in SoCal this was quite different and unfortunately not to my taste. Our kids our also used to the expectations from previously enjoying papusas and this experience was not too enjoyable. Not sure if this was a one off bad day or if this is just the way they make papusas. Also very very meager serving of the pickled veggies.
So good, kicking myself for not getting in here sooner. I have been celiac for so long that I was a contributor to the campaign for Groundbreaker to be able to start canning their beers, however in that years since I stopped drinking.
Salvi is the best food to take over the kitchen in the Groundbreaker space! Four vegan pupusa options and a vegan nacho. You can taste how fresh the masa is. Apparently they've been there for three years and now that I finally know what I've been missing I'll make it a regular stop.
The best gluten free food I have ever had. I love to cook so I'm often underwelmed when I go out to eat. I'm a celiac and I cook for myself and my fiance. He also agrees that this is the best gf food we've had in the Portland Metro area.
Salvi pdx makes food I could not replicate or make at home. The quality is there, the only issue is that they need to hire more chefs and expand.
It takes a longer than normal wait time for food to make its way from the kitchen to the table because they give you quality and freshly made. But if the kitchen was larger and there were more chefs, this wouldn't be an issue.
I wish they would expand and open more restaurants, more chefs, more funding for this place!
The service was great it was nice to sit down and have a wonderful meal we met the chef and she was delightful. The pupusas were out of this world good! Loroco was fresh and the chicharron tasted the way it should and not like other places that make it taste like taco meat. The chips and guac were also incredible and Salvi PDX makes the best ceviche I’ve ever had!
The pupusas were good as were our chips & guac. However, both me and my non-gluten free boyfriend started feeling sick within a few hours of eating here. The person who we think cooked are food seemed visibly sick — not sure if it was related. I would go back and give it another chance to make sure it wasn’t a fluke, but for now it’s a 3 star rating.
Everything served at the Ground Breaker Brewing Salvi PDX location is 100% gluten free. I work at Ground Breaker and we have a strict No Gluten Allowed In The Building Policy (sorry, folks who just went to Voodoo Donuts... you gotta leave them in the car!), because we are a Certified Gluten Free brewery!
Because the food is Salvadoran, it is mainly corn based. The tortilla chips are made in house from GF corn tortillas fried to order, the guacamole is made to order from whole avocados, the salsa is made by hand, in short, EVERYTHING is made from scratch or by hand in the kitchen at Salvi PDX. As such, this is not fast food. It is food made by hand with love, and can take a little bit but is worth the wait.
Also, ummm....GLUTEN FREE FRIED CHICKEN. Bone in. No tenders here! Yum!
