The menu had a (gs) marker to indicate gluten safe foods, but there are only a few options really. They have Udis GF buns or you could probably do a bun free burger depending on toppings. I had shrimp tacos which were good but the sauce was a bit heavy. The salsa wasn’t very good either. But overall it was fine.
The menu has changed again. There were no gluten free choices, just gluten sensitive, and hardly any at that! I came for a burger and was disappointed that they no longer have gf buns! No server came to our table for almost 10 minutes and we left. Very disappointed!
The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. They change their gloves and their chips are gluten free and are in their own bag. We got nachos with steak and I tested them In my Nima Sensor and everything came back clear!
My wife has Celiac disease and we eat here at least twice a month. The servers are knowledgeable about gluten free items and will make sure the kitchen knows to take special care to avoid cross contamination. The food is incredible, too. We love any fish plate, any salad (we specify spring mix over romaine), and the macho nachos. Kids eat for 2 bucks each on Sundays and Tuesdays, so we can go here without destroying our budget (we have 4 kids). They have a great rewards program too, so we often get a $10 credit towards our bill. Scotty's is our favorite and my wife feels 100% confident when she eats here.
I alerted the waitress ahead of time that I have celiac disease and gave them printed out instructions on how to keep me safe. The manager came over and discussed his concerns about things that could cause me to get sick. We decided the salmon without getting the rice was the safest thing and that they would wrap the salmon in aluminum foil before putting it on the pan. I ate the meal and didn't get sick. I'd give them 5 stars for their attentiveness and how much they cared to keep me safe. Im lowering the rating because there were very few options that were safe. I ate here a second time and didn't have any issues.
I’ve eaten here in the past and was pleased but they keep changing the menu. Each time there are fewer items for me to choose from. Gluten isn’t my only allergy so my choices are very limited. Last time I had the gluten free pizza with veggies and goat cheese. They no longer offer goat cheese so I had sauce, mushrooms, red peppers and black olives. The pizza came out looking naked. I had ask the waitress when ordering if the portions of toppings would be sufficient. She assured me they put plenty on. Well that might be the case when cheese was on it but that was not the case with my pizza. We will not return.
We used to eat here a lot, but recently they got new owners. The menu has changed, fewer things to eat, more expensive for kids, and they continually get order wrong. My son more recently got a sandwich that was not on gf bread. Argued with waitress who assured us gf, then shortly after manager came out and said it was not gf. Definitely no longer for the Celiac diner!
The burger I had here was not that great, but the knowledgeable staff was awesome. When we ask for the gluten-free options the manager asked if it was because of Celiacs, then informed our waiter of our needs. The waiter either knew what was gluten-free, or offered to go check with the kitchen. I felt safe eating the food here.
Food was very good. 3 of us are gluten free due to allergies and they do offer gluten sensitive food is what they mark it as on the menu. The burger was very good on a Udis bun. I did stay away from fries and did broccoli instead which was very good as well. My son had the pizza which he thought was good and he’s a picky eater. It looked good but I do believe it is just a pre-made crust but I am ok with that and very happy they had that as an option. The other meal was just as good. So I only gave 4 stars because it’s marked gluten sensitive and it’s not marked in many spots that you have those options but the waiter was great in telling us what was good and not good to eat. We will definitely try again when we are back in town.
Disappointed to find out my food was contaminated even after I called ahead and spoke to our server about my needs. Verified there was gluten with my Nima gluten sensor but not until most of my food was eaten (my mistake and not one I plan on repeating). Food delicious but the heart burn and stomach issues are not worth risking eating here again.
Very disappointed. I was to order the custom salad (my entire reason for going there) only to be informed that they were no longer offering this. Yet, it was still on the menu. After much hesitation the waitress finally found a sheet for the custom salad. To my dismay, there were FEW options actually on the list. I finally succumbed to a plain Jane burger with broccoli as a side. The meat was gross. It tasted like a chopped burger patty from GFS. The waitress told me the avocado on the burger ($1 upcharge) was a "large portion." The total amount of avocado was maybe the size of my pinkie finger. They do offer GF udi buns if you're into that. I will NOT be returning. They were accommodating to GF requests too.
Waitress was knowledgeable and directed me to GF section. She also told me would communicate with kitchen. Speed of food delivery was 3 stars, food was 4, waitress was 5, view was 5. Wasn't sick but food wasn't anything special.
Literally one of my favorite places to eat. They seem to be adding to the GF menu a little more. Make sure your food comes out with an American flag toothpick, or is brought to you by a manager who states that it's gluten free.
Have always had great service and have never gotten sick after eating there several times. The burgers are great! But some of the food we tried was not that great, we ordered the bacon Brussel sprouts tasted like a fish tank.
I am a celiac and I got very sick here from the Nachos. They had a menu that was clearly labeled and a waiter that appeared to be knowledge but something went wrong in their process. May be the cheese sauce. I would not recommend this place for any celiacs.
This location is terrible. Go to the Muncie one. I got a carry out order a few weeks ago with broccoli and a whole caterpillar was in it. I just used the comp cards they gave me for that incident for another to go order. I ordered gf on the phone and specified that it was an allergy. My boyfriend checked with the hostess that my meal was gluten free when he picked it up. I was starving, so I quickly took a big bite to discover that it is not gluten free bread. I'm about to be really sick.
My husband has Celiac Disease and we don't get to enjoy going out to restaurants very often. However, after calling ahead and talking to the manager, we were assured that they could handle our allergen as well as no cross contamination. I have to say the staff was very well informed as to how to handle our food and keep things safe for us. When our food was brought our it was brought out by a young man that actually had plastic gloves on and kept our food separate from the other's in our party (gluten food). We enjoyed the atmosphere and the meal. My husband did not get sick. Thank you to the management, chef's and staff at Scotty's for a wonderful meal and night out. Please keep up the great job well done! We will be back!
Everyone here is well-educated about gluten free needs and they have a menu in place that they can stand behind. This makes us very confident when we eat here and we've had no problems with illness from Scotty's.
