I sent this email to the owners over a week ago and received no response: I live in Morro Bay and met a friend at Scout Coffee on Wednesday. You’ve created a really fabulous modern environment and my soy hot chocolate was delicious. I noticed you had three bakery items labeled gluten free and since I am gluten intolerant, I was interested. Unfortunately, the very nice staff person was not as knowledgeable as I had hoped and simply noted that the items were baked gluten free. However, they were on the same display plates as items with gluten in them (they were actually touching baked goods that contained gluten) and then she used the same tongs to pick up a gf item immediately after picking up a non-gf item. This means those items are not actually gluten free as cross contamination is definitely occurring. While I highly appreciate your efforts to offer gf baked goods, and I mean no offense, if you want to offer gluten free baked goods (and I really hope you do!), more needs to be done because as it stands now, they are mislabeled as they are not gluten free and anyone who is gluten intolerant will not be able to eat them.
