I asked the waitress what can be made gluten free on the menu. She looked confused and spoke to the chef. She went to speak to the cook and came back saying “salads”. I looked at her in disbelief as there is grilled chicken or pan fried fish. She froze. I then confirm the hamburger on the menu was only burger. And she said I couldn’t eat anything from the fryer. I informed her I was aware of cross contamination, however, that was not my question. She said something about how she didn’t want to have to call an ambulance if I ate something with cross contamination. I assured her I don’t have an anaphylactic reaction to gluten. I received the burger with lettuce, red onion, pickles, a gluten free bun and kettle chips. The meal itself was satisfying. However, the lack of knowledge when it came to knowing what gluten is and waiting 70 minutes to receive our food made the visit to this restaurant unpleasant
