Make sure to ask really good questions and don’t trust the marked menu. We were fortunate that our waiter caught that the French onion dip that comes on the Velvet burger is not gluten free. The au jus mix packet they use in it has wheat. Also if they’re running the gluten free French Dip as a special, they’re using the same au jus mix for that. Fryer is not dedicated, so almost none of the appetizers are actually truly gf. Burger was overcooked. Also they kinda rushed us out at the end, and by the time I realized I hadn’t had the opportunity to order dessert, the waiter was suddenly bringing the check. They’re trying, but overall the food and service were both meh and the GF safety was questionable at best.
I had a great experience here! The staff was very knowledgeable and shared what was Celiac safe and not. Anything fried is not made in a separate fryer (so those GF options aren’t celiac safe), but that is noted clearly on the menu. It was noted on our receipt/order that we were celiac and as a result, everyone in the kitchen knew and we saw that the servers automatically put on gloves for our table. We ordered delicious salads and drinks. Loved it here!
The staff is knowledgeable and kind, but you have to make the severity of your allergy clear to your server! I am a very sensitive celiac and had no reaction to my burger and salad (no bun). Menu is accommodating of other allergies/vegans. !! Be warned that anything fried is cross contaminated !! Get the pickles or hummus instead :)
The server was excellent and seemed careful. I substituted a salad for fries because of the shared fryer. The food was excellent but I have been quite sick all day. I have not had this bad of a reaction to anything since I was previously given real bread and was told it was gluten free. I question if they didn't substitute the bread.
SO GOOD! It’s a little confusing because they mark all items that don’t contain gluten as GF, but they are very clear that they had a shared fryer. Our server was very helpful, I wasn’t able to get my first choice sandwich, but the second choice was easily made GF. I avoided the fries and chips and had a side salad instead, which I wasn’t super excited about but wound up being surprisingly delicious. I had the Washington on a GF roll and it was phenomenal! Would absolutely go back!
The sandwiches here are delicious and so amazing!! They do not have a dedicated gluten free frier so the French fries and wings are not safe. But the chips were! They have yummy gluten free bread that we had with the hummus platter. GF bread for sandwiches too. Our waiter said the kitchen was careful to change gloves and clean surfaces to avoid cross contamination. We actually ate here twice in one weekend we loved it so much!
Very conscientious and helpful about the GF items. My vegan burger was served on a very high-quality GF bun and was absolutely delicious. The many sauces and dips are all GF.
We have eaten here 4 times (3 times in one weekend one time) and never had any adverse celiac reactions; one kid is super sensitive. My kids love the burgers AND fries and the sandwiches I’ve had are delicious. I believe they might now have a dedicated fryer for the fries but do t remember. Due to covid, we’ve done to-go ordering and they are great with their take-out and precautions if dining in. I did call in our order vs online to make sure that one kid burger was GF. We will be getting more SSS with a trip to Richmond this weekend and all future visits.
