The restaurant has two sides, Shokudo (the main eatery for a more intimate dining experience) and Izakaya (bar that serves food, drinks and snacks). We went to Shokudo.
As there wasn’t gf servings marked on the menu I sent an e-mail to the restaurant. They replied that most of their servings can be made gf with small changes. The thing that is also good to know is that they use Kikkoman’s soy sauce which is ok for celiacs since the gluten decomposes during the fermentation process.
After receiving the e-mail I went to the restaurant with positive expectations. The waiter said that all of the servings are naturally gf, only the crispy rice and spicy crispy rice had to be made by changing some ingredients. I ordered a spicy crispy rice and after a while the another waiter came to me and said that it is not available gf since it has gochujang in it. Therefore I had to change my serving into non spicy one. I had no problems with rest of my salty dishes.
When I ordered the dessert, I was in a belief that it is also gf since the waiter had said me so. I ordered a yuzy sobet and when it was served to me, it had cake under the sorbet. I had to ask from the waiter if the cake is gf for sure, and it wasn’t. The waiter apologized and compensated it with a crème brulée.
All in all the food and drinks were super good, but I recommend being careful and double check if the servings you order are suitable for your diet!
