The staff here went out of their way to accommodate us (my friend and I are both Celiac) and make sure we could eat safely. The chef took us over to the salad bar and had us pick out everything we wanted (pointing out the gluten stuff to avoid) and then he prepared it in the kitchen for us so it wasn't contaminated. Then he grilled our mahi mahi without sauce (the mahi on the menu apparently has gluten). The drinks were tasty too. And they have GF soy sauce bottles. Prices weren't bad ($40 each for the dinner and a drink) with ocean views and very attentive service. One of the best spots in Waikiki.

Went for lunch, had the mahi-mahi on a GF bun but the tartar sauce wasn't GF so got a side of ranch. It was good but it felt like we had to work a little to figure out what was GF.

I told the waitress I needed to eat gluten-free and she had the manager come over who proceeded to get the head chef to review the menu with me. He then walked me over to the salad bar and asked what I wanted on my salad. This was custom prepared for me in the back with fresh ingredients to avoid cross-contamination. I ordered the chicken breast, which was grilled for me separately from the rest of the meat. The restaurant went out of their way to help me and I was very impressed.

I used to eat here beforehand diagnosis and thought it was pretty good. Since having Celiac, I've eaten here a few times, and it's really nothing special or exciting. The wait staff seem to have a very general knowledge of gluten allergies, so I would be careful. I haven't ventures to the salad bar for fear of cross-continuation, so I've played it "safe" with plain chicken breast and a baked potato... But how can you really mess that up when the customer grills the meat himself?1

Went for dinner service was good. Note it is a grill your own concept, so you order your meat and grill it yourself. I was disappointed that none of the season meats were gf. I ended up with a plain chicken breast, nothing exciting.

Wait staff was not educated on GF food or drinks. I was highly disappointed to not be able to order any mixed drinks in such a beautiful location. The manager was very kind in accommodating our GF/SF diet. He noted a separate kitchen space is used. I would love to see this place add a GF drink to the menu. GF bun was delicious!

I'm Celiac, read the other reviews and was super excited to have found a cool lunch place with a great view. I had the absolute opposite experience. Incredibly rude, high school age staff with almost zero knowledge about what does and does not contain gluten.

I first ordered the gluten free Cobb salad only to wait ten minutes and then be told they were "out of Cobb salads"??? I was offered the shore burger instead and happily ordered it without a bun. After waiting another twenty minutes, they brought out a piece of meat on a pile of iceberg lettuce...no sauce, no cheese, no tomato. When I inquired why the burger came out this way, I was told the sauce was made with mayonnaise and they were not sure if it or the pickle they actually did serve me (on the side) were gluten free. What?!?

Needless to say, I gave them the burger back and got up and left...after talking with the manager on duty who admitted the chef didn't understand what did and didn't have gluten in it.

Do yourselves a favor...stay away from this place and ensure you feel well while on vacation.

Absolutely delicious! Gf bun. Guy who brought out our food mixed mine and my wifes burgers (hers was on a regular bun) , but our server was right behind to correct it. Shore Bird is my new favorite Waikiki place! Gorgeous views on the beach, $3.50 Mai tai happy hour, not short on the booze. Would eat here everyday if I could!

They were out of GF buns and we were told that none of the GF suppliers have buns available on the island right now. I ordered the Shore Bird Burger and it came in a lettuce wrap and had a salad with it. The manager came out to great us, since I had ordered GF. He said that one of the executives daughters has Celiac and she eats there at least 3 times per week. Because of the fact that she likes to eat there, everyone on the staff is well versed on the importance of GF for celiac people. We were here for lunch and the atmosphere is really cool. Right on the beach. I highly recommend this one if you're in Waikiki. We'll more than likely hit it up again for lunch tomorrow. :)
