GF items are NOT marked in the menu, but the waiter (who also had celiac) did a great job marking all the things that I could eat or could be modified. He even triple checked with the kitchen and asked me if cross contact was problem after I said I had a gluten allergy.
Food was great! There is no dedicated fryer so avoid anything fried here, but I ordered the chicory salad and it was interesting and tasty.
The food here was SO good and the waiter labeled everything on the menu. He told me what was completely gluten free, what might have cross contamination, and what I couldn’t eat. I ordered the chicken shawarma and instead of getting it on a pita I got it on a bed of lettuce and it was delicious. I did not have any reaction to the food at all, which was so nice.
I actually used to work here for many years, and was really proud to see how they handled allergens and had awareness of cross contact!
While the menu isn’t fully gluten free, there are an array of items that can be enjoyed. Keep in mind that the menu is seasonal, meaning items rotate in and out (sometimes even daily, depending on market availability). There are limited windows where there is no cross contact in the fryer, but you have to always ask.
Pita can be substituted with crudite for the dips, and all the proteins and vegetable dishes can be easily modified to be gluten free if they aren’t already naturally.
Chef Ayesha’s food is sensational and definitely worth trying.
I’m sad to report they either changed their process or they started being honest about it. Previously I had been told almost all items were gluten free and safe, including items that were fried as they had a dedicated fryer. This is no longer the case and now all fried foods are made in a shared fryer. This was deeply disappointing as I’ve loved this restaurant for years and now it heavily limits what is celiac safe. While the food I was able to eat was delicious it’s so limiting that I don’t know it’s worth going back in the future. Such a bummer. I hope they go back to a dedicated fryer in the future
Everything I had was AMAZING, the server pointed out what exactly was or was not gluten free, can’t wait to go back. Also- easy to share plates with non- gluten free people as there were sufficient options
Food was great. Lots of delicious naturally gluten free dishes. A great place to go with a mixed group of people with different food needs. Not sure that they were perfect about avoiding cross-contamination. I hope they make a little more effort to keep their gluten-free food safe. This place could be a favorite.
