More limited menu options than neighboring restaurant Skull Creek Dockside. No dedicated fryer, so all choices are cold, steamed, or broiled. Catfish was decent but had too much sauce. My son had the shrimp pasta but didn’t care for the sauce. My daughter had the low country boil. It had a ton of shrimp but was pretty bland. Wouldn’t eat here again but would go next door to Dockside.

This has been a family favorite for years. New experience going as a celiac. They do have a gluten free menu, which is so helpful rather than having staff go item by item on safety, but they do *not* have a separate fryer. Maybe they did at one point as some of these reviews would suggest (I was crossing my fingers to be able to have their fried shrimp!), but anything fried is off limits and the GF menu does have a disclaimer about CC in the kitchen. This place is just too big and too busy to cater very carefully to a celiac’s needs. I got nigiri and mussels and felt pretty good about those items. Options get slimmer with the GF menu but it’s nice to have when dining out with a whole non-celiac family.

What a treat! My wife is celiac and was so excited about their menu and dedicated fryer. We had the fried pickles/okra and fried shrimp/calamari appetizers and then split the fried clam strip dinner. Everything was amazing...as were the sauces to accompany the dishes. We passed on the creme brulee for dessert and ordered another round of the pickles and okra (when you don't have access to these things and they are THAT good...). Great atmosphere, beautiful sunset, good service. Definitely coming back here on our next visit to HHI.

Items marked on menu specifically. Had the broiled flounder with mashed potatoes and green beans. Delicious!

I cannot recommend this place for someone with celiac. They offered my daughter ceviche with a side of chips. Found out the chips are fried in a shared fryer. Thankfully they were separated. But had nothing else to offer her.

Great menu. Dedicated fryer. We had the fried shrimp/calamari which was delicious. Brisket was good, fries and coleslaw. Waiter was knowledgeable and carried my food out separately from everyone else. Overall great environment and experience.

Got extremely sick. Ordered off the GF menu but I got glutened from something. They said their soy sauce was all GF but wondering if it wasn’t. Have been sick for a few days because of it.

Staff said the low sodium Kikkoman soy sauce was gluten free but it's not. That could have been a major problem for someone with Celiac. Please use caution. I ordered from their gotten free menu and ensured it was something that definitely didn't have gluten. But be careful of what the staff tells you.

I loved the overall vibe; amazing outdoor seating with live music (and dog friendly!) but I was disappointed with the gluten free menu bc they had a disclaimer basically saying if you have celiac disease, then don't eat here. It was helpful to have the separate GF menu snd it had a lot of options on it but the disclaimer was off putting and made me nervous. The server was very laize faire and didn't write anything down which also made me nervous but I didn't get sick, thankfully.

There is a separate GF menu but didn’t feel like our server understood celiac disease and my concern about cross contamination. But I didn’t get sick and felt Ok after meal. Ate steamed oysters, flounder meal with rice, creme brûlée with no wafers for dessert.

Server was not knowledgeable about celiac, but accommodating and took extra steps to verify with the kitchen. Had the Philadelphia roll and blackened catfish, both delicious! No issues. Will definitely return.

Had twin filet, not gf related but one wasn’t cooked right they did fix it right away, with mashed potatoes and green beans. Overall a good meal. Waiter seemed knowledgeable.

We were a little disappointed. They do NOT have a dedicated fryer. They had some gluten free option but it didn’t seem like there were any GF appetizers. They do not have any GF bread choices. Also the restaurant was very loud.

They have a separate gluten free menu. I had the tuna ceviche and the Napa salad with chicken. Had no reaction. The atmosphere outside is great and we loved watching the boats go in and out of the water

Had the fried calamari and shrimp to start. Very tasty. Had the vegetable soup and Caesar salad. They put packaged gluten crackers on my plate with the soup. No reaction, but I’m not sure how good the notes were to the kitchen regarding the gluten allergy.

Fried shrimp was super yummy. Ordered with sweet potato fries and they were more like charred sweet potato chunks. Worth it though for the fried shrimp!
Wonderful meal, and careful staff. It was busy, but they always do a great job and the food is delicious
Celiac here. Lots of gluten free choices. I had the Deadliest Catch steamer pot. Exceptional food, friendly staff, and gorgeous sunset views on the water. Highly recommend.
I have Celiac disease and Salicylate sensitivity. They do have a GF menu, but if you have other intolerances know that your choices may be very limited. This last trip I ordered the Peel N Eat shrimp (cold), and was not able to have the Yukon gold potatoes (because of white pepper) or French fries (no dedicated fryer); and they do not offer baked potatoes. So, I had mixed greens with carrots. The shrimp were over cooked, therefore not very good. It would be great if they had a dedicated fryer, and more options for those with multiple allergies.
Yes
Good sized GF menu. My daughter got the sushi and said it was good.
I would recommend this restaurant for the GF options and fantastic location!
Yes
Lots of menu options, although salmon wasn’t an option. 🤷♀. My daughter got the kids filet and we told them it needed to be gluten free. They were knowledgeable and we didn’t have any issues
Extensive gluten-free menu and nice atmosphere. The food was just OK, but I would definitely go back knowing that it safe for celiac.
Yes
Please do not let the hostess staff deter you from eating here. They are not knowledgeable at all. The wait staff, specifically Kathleen, was very knowledgeable regarding gluten issues. Food was pretty good. They do have a gluten free menu and many other items on the menu can be altered to fit your issue.
Yes
GF items clearly marked on the menu. good selection of seafood to choose from which is nice as I always worry about the seasoning when it comes to seafood.
Yes
Separate Gluten Free menu available and items are flagged on the menu. Lots to choose from! Everything was delicious. I had snow crab legs with red potatoes and corn on the cob.
Yes
Not much to choose from no rolls bread, pasta, just blah

They designate Gluten Free options on menu, which was nice. There is good food, a nice view, live music, and entertainment for kids. The restaurant, however, has a poor system of moving people through. We waited over 2.5 hours when we were told it would be an hour and a half wait.
Good food but there is a wait. Service was very good. Gluten free options posted on menu.

Ordered burger without a bun and mashed potatoes. This is the only place on the island where I got sick. They do have a pretty extensive GF menu, but that won't help if they aren't careful in the kitchen. The atmosphere is cool. We ate outside and had a great water view.
No
Keep it simple here, as think is a drinking//family//music//gorgeous view place...food is solid, but not attentive to any culinary details.
Catfish is a solid bet and the BAM margaritas on the rocks were strong.

Although it was a 2 hour wait (they don't take reservations), and we had 2 kids under 4 to entertain for that wait, it was worth it! Across from restaurant is a outdoor bar and kiddie games. We were seated outside and got to eat dinner in view of a gorgeous sunset. Kids also loved going down the dock, looking at the boats and water. Food was awesome. Gluten free is noted right on the menu and they said they can accommodate even more with simple grilling options. I had the snow crab with shrimp platter that came with corn on the cob, red skin potatoes and sausage. Was so happy with our dining experience and would highly recommend!! I have celiac and am very sensitive with cross and had no problems!
Yes
Very good gluten free menu.
Amazing place to eat! They have a great gluten free menu! King crab legs are the best!
Yes
We got mussels and the boiled shrimp dinner. Staff was knowledgeable and everything was delicious!
Very helpful and understanding staff. No gf buns or bread but plenty of other delish items.
I had the opal off the lunch specials and it was excellent. staff were knowledgeable, friendly and not taken back when we ordered. I would be back.
Yes
Got the tuna sashimi and Napa salad wth chicken withno problem. Server was very friendly ans brought me GF soy sauce and checked on the salad dressing.
Yes
I ordered the gluten free seafood pasta and had a horrible gluten reaction after. Even though I mentioned my severe allergy to the waiter, the message obviously didn't reach the chef preparing my meal. Steps were NOT taken to prevent cross contamination... Other than that the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was fun.
No
Very good service and awesome food. Got the gluten free sea food pasta which was awesome and they had homemade rice noodles which were so much better than the usually mushy rice pasta.
No gluten free menu, but the wait staff and kitchen will work with you. They made me up a cajun chicken pasta with rice noodles that was amazing! Highly recommended. Google maps will send you to the place next door (Chart House). The restaurant is the next building to the east, behind a boat storage pole barn.
Yes
Seafood restaurant with huge outdoor seating. GF pasta options and any type of fish can be "simply grilled". Waiter was very helpful. Beautiful view overlooking water.
The last stop on our trip. We stopped here on the way home for lunch. I couldn’t decide what I wanted and we had a $50 voucher from taking the timeshare tour so we ordered a bunch of different things. We started with chips, guacamole and salsa. In hindsight, I didn’t ask if they cook the chips themselves or if the guacamole was gluten free. I ended up sick before we left the restaurant. Not their fault, mine… Seriously not a smart move before a 12 hour car ride back to Ohio. I didn’t ask. The sushi roll was very good – smoked salmon, cream cheese and cucumber. Then Aaron and I shared crab legs again. He ordered the snickers cake for desert, and once again… I watched him eat it.
