They will give you chili from the back where there is less chance of contamination. Very knowledgeable and will work with you. One bummer is they only carry the baked potatoes during lent.
We always ask for a chili bowl from a fresh pot (from the back) and cheese that hasn't been touched. They are very accommodating. We bring chips with us so our son can dip them in the chili and add cheese. He's always happy to go to Skyline and they treat us very well there. They know about gluten allergies.
— No gluten-free information on the menu
As a Cincinnati native I was devastated when I got diagnosed with celiac and thought I’d have to give up all the treasure foods of home. Luckily skyline chili and cheese are gluten free so I still go and get coney bowls. I’m sensitive celiac and have never gotten sick with my order yet.
I love the Greek Salad with Greek dressing and the coney bowls (hot dogs, chili, cheese, onions w/no buns). The chili is gluten free. There is an allergen menu I refer to on line. Never had an issue at any Skyline.
I really wish Skyline was more GF knowledgeable. If you don’t have Celiac you can get a baked potato with chili and cheese or a salad option. But for Celiacs, Skyline is not safe. 3 of my 4 kids have worked at Skyline and have informed me that EVERYTHING gets cross contaminated, including the lettuce for the salads when they are making burritos. I’m still keeping my hopes up that they become more knowledgeable. I sure do miss Skyline.
This Middletown location doesn’t have a gluten free menu nor are the employees educated on anything related to common allergies. After explaining that I have a gluten allergy (celiac) and asking for the menu, I was brought crackers. While other locations may be safe, this one, at the moment, is NOT.
At most Skyline Chilis you can ask for chili and cheese from the back that hasn't been touched by anything else. We bring crackers and chips and feel safe. They did a great job at this new location.
They are great! They said they have several customers with celiac that come in and the manager brings the food out. They get the chili and cheese from the back that hasn't been touched. We bring chips and crackers and our son is happy to be able to eat out. This is true at most locations.
This Skyline has gluten free noodles! They make them early in the day and heat them up when ordered. They even bag it up when they heat it up to prevent cross contamination.
I followed the app here because it was the only close recommendation, but once inside, the waitress said their only safe option was salad because of cross contamination. They only offer baked potatoes during lent. The hostess has a sister with celiac and instead recommended a Mexican Restaurant down the next exit called Jalisco that she said has been safe.
Was going to order from there but thank goodness i could see what they were doing in the kitchen. The cheese was being added over the pot of chilli, falling in, after touching hot dog buns. Also, the ladel was touching the hotdog buns as he was scooping chilli. NOT CELIAC FRIENDLY.
Our waiter seemed to understand celiac disease and gluten free, but the kitchen sent out my chilli over spaghetti. The server realized the error and they corrected it quickly. Will try again soon.
Has GF menu. The regular chili does NOT have beans if any kind in it and the veggie chili is not listed as gluten free so I’m not sure what the other reviewer is talking about. Not all locations have baked potatoes, which is unfortunate if you want more than a salad.
Had a Nutritional Guide available showing menu items that were GF. Could not eat chili because unable to have kidney beans, which is main ingredient. Disappointed that vegetarian black beans and rice were not GF. Had a Greek chicken salad that was tasty. Prices extremely reasonable.
The staff had no knowledge of what was gluten free. When I asked what was gluten free they told me to look it up online. They were even kind of rude about it. Noone in my group was really satisfied with their food either. I will not be back.
This particular Skyline has gfree noodles! I got a way and did not get sick. They also have a dedicated fryer for fries. Great service: our waitress was very knowledgeable. Definitely going back.
Chili is gf. Can get bunless coney, salads, baked potato. Chance for cross contamination is there but I've never had a problem. Best to look up options online, they don't have a formal gf menu in store.
Yes, it's hard to go to Skyline and just eat salad! We split a chili cheese fries and a Greek salad. we told the waitress of our issues and she said they could make our food in the back with a separate pot of chili that hadn't been near the steam table. Yummmmmm......
This is NOT a good restaurant for gluten free. The staff thought everything has gluten, even the chili. I had a baked potato with shredded cheese. Very disappointed. We are pass though on a trip and do not have time to try a fourth place. The first one we tried was packed, the second was out of business and we decided to try here.
