Staff said even the pancakes they make in the back are on a shared griddle, but I got a gluten-free hash that was pretty good and didn't make me sick.

Cook your own pancakes but be warned YOU WILL WAIT for the privilege! The staff is not warm and fuzzy and the kitchen is a little slow but the food is good. They have gf/vegan options and plenty of options for other types of eaters. They can accommodate larger parties and while the wait is long it was an adventure to let everyone make their own food!

Celiacs BEWARE:: UNSAFE I was very VERY clear that I’m a celiac. When I was served I re-checked to make sure everything was gluten free (which it was NOT) with the manager who then accused me of being unclear and instructed me to be do better in the future.

They have gluten free batter, but cooking on the same griddle as non gluten free batter was too risky. Fortunately, they have gluten free pancakes which they cook separately so there is no risk. I get a stack of 3 and it fills me up nicely.

Went there on a Sunday with family and friends and got there at 8 am when they open. We were seated in 10 min and served promptly. By 8:30 am the line to get in was out the door. A great place to sit with friends and discuss life even when you do not have any children with you.

delicious! we come to slappy cakes frequently. I ALWAYS order from the kitchen, and I've never had a problem with cross-contamination.

Service is not friendly most of the time. But let's face it, I go here to appease my kids... GF pancakes don't really cook well, but my kids don't care. They love it.

Gluten free vegan pancakes. Yum. An easily workable me ur for kids, adults and dietary desires.

Super busy, but the food was fantastic. Gf options too.

Slappy Cakes is excellent! We shared the 8 oz. GF pancake mix bottle. The pancakes are thick and have a great flavor. I had the organic hot chocolate, which was delicious and full of chocolate flavor. The grits and cheese special is the star of the menu-southern grits, cheddar & Parmesan cheese, pork belly, and two eggs (your way). This dish is tremendous and should not be missed!!!

At 8:30 am on a Tuesday there was no wait to be seated. The place was packed by 9:30. They have gluten free batter, but cooking on the same griddle as non gluten free batter was too risky for me. Fortunately, for $4 they do have a monster size gluten free pancake which they cook separately so there is no risk. Otherwise, all could just use the gluten free batter.

Fun environment & I appreciate that great care is taken to prevent cross contamination. Would be a five star rating if the GF 'cakes weren't also vegan - I think you get a tastier product bypassing the vegan route.

Cool! I had no idea they did GF! This is like taking the kids to a theme park--you get to squirt your own batter on your own grill. Super fun.

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. I literally can not stress how much I love this place!! The staff is wonderful!! They are so helpful and genuinely happy to serve and see you. OhEmGee Becky, and the FOOD?! IS SOOOOOOO GOOOODDDD!! That was the BEST pancake I have EVER had even gluten free, they out did every other pancake I have ever had, the bacon was thick and cooked to perfection and my latte?! AMMAZZINNGG You could tell my blue berries were FRESH and they don't skimp out either, you get the PERFECT amount of berries in your pancakes and the peanut butter was the kind that's ground from peanuts so fresh and flavorful!! I highly highly HIGLLLLY suggest visiting - but be warned, I'm not the only one who is in love with this place, it's PACKED all the time and they don't take reservations but I PROMISE- it is WAY worth the wait! I LOVE SLAPPY CAKES!!

I shouldn't write a positive review for this place because it's hard enough to get a seat in there. Awesome gf pancakes, great wait staff, fun atmosphere...stay away on weekend though, very busy :))

Gluten free pancakes are so good, the fruit add ins taste super fresh. You can have them cook, or you can cook your own pancakes at your table. Fun and great atmosphere.
