GF buns, a dedicated fryer, knowledgeable staff, fast service and good food. Our first trip was awesome. On our return trip I was told that they have to clean the grill before cooking GF burgers so they are only available if it's not too busy and they can clean the grill. I was told that I should call before coming to see if they can accommodate GF or not. We haven't been back as it seemed like an imposition on them for our last visit.
Udi's buns! Yummy burgers!
Smashburger now offers gluten-free buns for their burgers (Udi's -- $1 extra). We were also able to eat their fries and sweet potato fries. Both were yummy and gf! We were told they are done in separate fryers than the battered foods. Both of the gf people in our party ate with no adverse reaction. Yay!
I’ve been here twice and asked a lot of questions. Fries cooked in dedicated fryer were delicious, both regular and “smash fries” with garlic and rosemary. They also have sweet potato fries and tater tots that claim to be gluten free. Burger was delicious on lettuce. They offer an UDI’s gf bun but the toaster is shared. Super nice people, great service. Couldn’t see the cooks so I don’t know how cautious they were but the cashier talked a good talk about precautions.
I returned to the restaurant to iffy results, was told previously that there is a dedicated fryer but another employee made me feel like it wasn't truely dedicated. They serve gf rolls but lacks any sort of understanding on how to make gf food. I requested them to place my food into a separate bag away from the rest of the order that was for a person who ordered gluten. The cookstaff combined our food together and for whatever reason seemed to over stuff the single bag. We bought this up through a complaint line and simply received a answer from the district manager consisted of, I have no words to explain why it happened and here's coupons to come back. I would think twice before going here..... My previous review is below Was met by somewhat knowledgeable staff member who was willing to answer my questions. Willing to take majority of the steps to be gluten free. Has a dedicated fryer but was not available that night. I didn't order that evening but will return and update review when able to eat.
The girl who took my order also has Celiac and was able to walk me through my order.
The staff came out to talk to me after I told them I’m celiac. All types of fries are in a dedicated fryer, and all breaded items are in their own fryer. They told me to avoid smash sauce and mayo due to cross contamination, and leave off haystack onions on the bbq bacon and cheddar burger. Overall a great experience.
Helpful staff and tasty burgers
Pass it by. The only thing gf is Udis bun, which is toasted on regular toaster. French fries no special oil. Forget it!
The staff was eager to help us understand what they had available that was gluten free (buns, fries, meat). My son also has other allergies and they were not sure of the seasoning ingredients they use on the burger. They were very accommodating and made his burger without seasoning to be on the safe side.
They really need a Gluten Free menu. The cashier didn't know what I could eat and had to keep running back to ask the manager. The poster of the wonderful salad on the wall was NOT offered as an option. It's just to look at but NOT on the menu. They would have had to remove 5 items off the Cobb Salad to make it Gluten Free but not reduce the price. I really wanted a salad but ended up with a GF hamburger. The Brussel Sprouts were good. Please Train your staff on food alergies. My daughter got her meal first and ate it, my husband goy his second and mine came out about five minutes later. We didn't get to eat together as a family. It really sucked. For the price they should do a better job.
I have always had a good experience here. The Udi’s buns are better than what is available in the grocery store. I like having the option of enjoying a burger and this fits the bill. Agree on the fries being something to avoid as are in shared frier. I have many good experiences with the staff at this location and Smashburger has frequent coupons if you use the app.
I didn't go to this location, I went to the one in Del Lago. but they seemed to know my needs very well and were aware of what I was able to have on the menu. I had an avocado burger on a gluten free roll and smashfries. They also changed their gloves. There is always risk of cross contamination but as long as you go when they aren't busy I think you will do just fine.
I was worried because it can be so hard to find a safe place to eat when flying-while-Celiac BUT this location did a great job and the food tasted good too. They took the time to listen to my concerns about cross contact and I managed to enjoy my lunch without getting sick. Go me!
I had a wonderful experience at Smashburger in NJ, so was excited to find this one closest to home. It was dirty, no dedicated fryer for fries, making the fries not gluten free, and our order got messed up.
This place is great! They ask specifically if you are GF for allergy or preference every single time we visit. Torey always takes our order, and she's always so cautious. My son has never had a reaction here. They have GF buns that they won't put through the warmer if you have CD. Fries are safe too.
Staff was completely unprepared when I asked for a gluten free menu. She said they didn’t have one but “I’m pretty sure everything is GF except maybe the bread,” so I asked the manager for help. No real menu, but they do have a spreadsheet of their allergens. It didn’t have everything on their menu, though, such as the chili. They don’t have a separate fryer, so fries aren’t safe. No separate kitchen prep area for any of the GF stuff, they were really busy, & I should’ve known better than to risk it. I was sick by the time I finished my burger. I won’t be back.
