Updated review as of 9/2024: Soto’s used to be amazing for GF, but they no longer have a dedicated fryer. The chips and the sopapillas aren’t safe anymore. Items are still marked GF but beware of cross contamination. They did adjust their menu to remove the GF label from most fried items (sopapillas are still marked GF though so be careful!)
We went here for Mother’s Day because I’d heard it would likely be a “safe” place. I explained to the waiter my son has Celiac and asked about GF options, cross-contamination, etc. He helped us with our order (my son got Pepper Chicken, marked GF on the menu). It came out with two flour tortillas rolled up and ON THE SAME PLATE as his meal. He’s 14 and gets embarrassed by these situations, so he insisted on eating from the opposite side of the plate, avoiding the side that had the tortillas. No surprise, but he got sick. Definitely would NOT recommend this place to true, symptomatic Celiacs.
I ate here today and although the food was good (had the fish tacos😁) I spoke with the manager and they do NOT have a dedicated fryer so the chips, sopapillas, or anything else fried is not Celiac safe due to cross contamination:( They do clean the grill and use a separate area to prepare your dish however. Just wanted to share!
You can get sopapillas. So delicious!
Came here to try something new based one a single review that there were TONS of Gluten Free Options. About a 10-15 minute wait as it’s a small place. But OMG! I cannot wait to try to food. The Salsa Alone is DELICIOUS, and I’m not usually a big salsa fan. Menu is chock full of GF Tags…even DESSERT! Sopapillas, Flan & Tres Leches are all Gluten Free? Say What?
The food is delicious and the gigantic menu identifies many GF options.
