Spice Bistro Diya is an Indian restaurant with meat and vegetarian curries. It has some pretty good lunch deals and an all-you can eat deal. I ordered the Mutton Biryani set, which came with Biryani and my choice of curry (I chose chicken). When I ordered, I asked the waiter if there was any wheat or gluten in either dish but he didn’t seem to understand in Japanese or English why I was asking about wheat. He did list all the ingredients in the dish for me and it didn’t include wheat so I went ahead and ordered. When the side salad came out it had a dressing on it. The waiter confirmed it had soy sauce in it, and got me a salad without dressing.
The biryani and curry were divine. The biryani was spicy but not to the point where I couldn’t feel my mouth, it was well-seasoned, and mutton was very soft. The chicken curry was labeled as ‘not spicy’ and it had a bit of a sweet taste from the onions. I didn’t get sick after eating or later in the day, so I don’t think there was any gluten in it.
The restaurant does serve naan with most of its dishes, so there is some risk of cross contamination. There is no allergen labelling on the menu, so you will have to confirm with the restaurant about each item. The biryani set was 1600円 but there were other lunch sets ranging from 900円.
