Wheat Allergy

Sprechers appears GF, even a gluten free menu that is separate from main menu. I have a severe or sensitive allergy. I can’t consume gluten at all. They assured me my sandwich and small side salad would be fine for an allergy. The salad came out with croutons..this scared me as in do they understand the allergy? She assured me that it was a mistake and the manager and cook assured me the sandwich would be fine. I was sick in less than 10 min and less than 1/2 my sandwich. I wish they would not offer gluten free and simply state it. I many times just have some water while everyone else eats. It’s better than getting ill and really messing up the outing🙂

Amazing GF menu! The blackened blue burger is outstanding and the blue cheese dressing is homemade and the best I've ever had. Truly wonderful experience. Will definitely be back. Great service too! Thank you Sprechters!

I explained that I was a celiac and specifically asked that they leave tater tots off my order of a burger that normally comes with them. After having had to wait 45 minutes for our food because they accidentally served my gluten-free meal to another customer, they gave me my meal in a to go box. When I had eaten half the burger, I noticed that there were tater tots inside the bun with the burger, meaning my meal was anything but gluten free.

Our party of 13, 7 gluten free, had a great visit! Our waiter, Mihai, was sure to double check that every gluten free person's order was entered correctly with "safe" sides. At one point both the waiter and manager came racing out to make sure the Gf people knew that one of the appetizers ordered wasn't gluten free. (We were aware). We felt confident that our gf needs were being met.

They do have a gluten free menu, however you can’t have a lot of the sauces and they don’t tell you that. We ordered the Thai lettuce wraps and they came out so bland we couldn’t even eat them. I asked the server about the Thai sauce and she said it wasn’t gluten free, even though it was on the gluten free menu. My boyfriend isn’t gluten free and his burger was really greasy. So all in all it was bad...

They have a separate menu just for gluten free items. There is so much to choose from it’s hard to decide. You cannot get fries on the side due to possible cross contamination but their side salad is very very good. Was passing through town and thought we would try. So impressed that we found one closer to home so I can go again.

My husband and I stopped at Sprecher’s while traveling. The gluten free menu is extensive. The waitress was knowledgeable. I had the Italian beef sandwich on a GF bun and the Cranberry Pecan Rice. Both were very good. There are numerous options for drinks from homemade soda to an extensive beer selection for those that can have gluten filled beer! Also, there is GF beer/cider.

Excellent food and service! Great selection for gluten free. Daughter had GF vegan burger, said it was the best she’s had. She usually tosses the bun at restaurants but ate it all! The rest of us ordered burgers and all were delicious. We received food in a timely manner; appetizer and meal perfectly spaced out. Our server, Madison, was amazing. She was friendly, helpful and attentive w/o being over-bearing. Great experience in the Dells!

If your a Celiac this isn't the place for you. The staff is not well versed on Celiac. I asked if they had separate fryers. They said, we use soy oil so no worries. I explained it didn't have to do with the kind of oil but what other items were fried in the oil.... ahhh no we don't have separate fryers. The nachos are listed gluten free but are made in the same fryer as everything else. If you eat here It's a crap shoot, no pun intended.

ONE OF THE BEST EXPERIENCES I'VE EVER HAD! Honestly met the nicest waitress who was also the most knowledgeable about GF stuff. She was quick to tell me they changed the recipe for the mustard on a burger and she knew it had gluten. They take their allergies seriously! I had a bratwurst hamburger, a root beer float, hashbrowns, coleslaw, and the most amazing BBQ chicken flat bread that MUST be tried. The flat bread looks like a mini pizza and everyone at the table lost it over how delicious it was. My guests didn't have Celiac so they ordered flights of hard soda and beers and we're soooo happy. Honestly, I had such selection I didn't even mind. I had one of my favorite red ones available to drink anyhow. We liked it so much we tipped our waitress 25%, a true first.

Second time at this Sprecher's location. Second time I specifically ordered GF off the menu, explaining that I have Celiacs disease.... BOTH times my order came out containing gluten.

In fact, after bringing my order back out the server lectured me that "of you're really allergic, you shouldn't eat here". 😳 No apology. Just a lecture about cross-contamination.

Other Sprecher's locations are great. This one, steer clear!!

I was a bit concerned immediately upon reading the gluten free menu the hostess provided. It had many options of "order this and make sure to substitute this". The menu also emphasized that the items were gluten free but prepared in a gluten environment. We sat down to eat and informed the server my son has celiac. He did know that meant gluten free. When I quizzed him on the preparation area (separate pans, area on the grill, care to avoid cross contamination, etc) he said nothing was really separate. I informed him that cooking gluten free items on top of gluten items could make our son very sick and he basically said we would be taking a risk. I chose to leave with my son and leave the rest of our family there. It wasn't worth the risk to me. I'm surprised so many people said this place was celiac friendly. Luckily my son (2 yrs old and only diagnosed for 4 months) was very good about coming back to the condo for leftovers while his siblings got to stay and eat. I wish people would really take the time to write more accurate reviews so we weren't faced with this situation. If you choose to eat in a place like this and don't get sick, I'm happy for you, but I still wouldn't label it as celiac friendly.

Great selection of food (hard to pick!) We actually went their twice during our Dells vacation.

Their GF bun was delicious and buttery (not dry at all). The first visit I had a crazy burger with a brat patty and sauerkraut; highly recommend!

I didn't ask about whether they had a dedicated fryer, as I was trying to get some fruits and veggies into our bodies. They also had a GF beer, but I didn't try that either. All of their sodas were GF though and delicious :)

our server helped me and answered all my questions. The gf flat bread is made on a shared conveyer belt, he said they could cook in a pan upon request, it was good but under cooked. For dinner I had a pulled pork on a gf buns and hashbrowns. I would go back if I'm ever in the dells again. They have a large gf menu and gf beer.

This was great for gluten-free food. A dedicated large menu with a lot of choices from appetizers to entrees. They also have gluten-free housemade rootbeers and gluten-free beer. Try the orange dream with or without the icecream for a float.

Our favorite are the pork carnitas from the appetizer menu, large portion, corn cake bottom with pulled pork, cabbage and avocado ranch dressing which was all gluten-free and absolutely delicious, we went back just for them. Fish tacos were also good, burgers were a little dry. Gluten-free flatbreads were also good.

Do not eat here if you have celiac disease or are gluten sensitive. The GF menu appears to be a nice selection of salads, sandwiches and entrées but not so. The food preparation and cooking surfaces not separate or cleaned from gluten entrées preps. I wanted a GF Reuben sandwich but it is grilled on the same surface with gluten breads so I ordered a GF salad thinking it would be safe. The salad came with additional ingredients (non-GF) that were not listed on the menu and I was not told. I noticed it and talked to the server who was unsure. The manager stated that it contained additional ingredients and I should not eat it. Another red flag was the menu explanation that states "to QUALIFY for GF..." just substitute with a GF bun. I suspect that some of the other ingredients on the sandwiches may not have been GF either. I've had celiac disease for several yrs and have come to know which ingredients to stay away from. In the end, I did not eat here; I walked out hungry and very disappointed.
