i loved the family style here! when i sat down, i told the waitress i had a gluten allergy and asked about contamination, she told me that she thought the steak was cooked in a separate pan than the breaded entrees but she would let the chef know so he could make sure it was safe. the fries are NOT safe because of the fryer, but she said that the soup, salad, and beans are all gluten free. i will post an update if i get sick

8/19: the soup is now gf too! Excellent salmon dinner with plain salad, soup, and green beans! Do not eat the fries - no dedicated fryer. Highly recommend! Also, they have Tito’s vodka and one of the female bartenders is gf.
I had dinner at The Star with a large group of people. I'd been there before I was GF; it's a Basque family-style restaurant. They were able to accommodate my GF DF latex free requests. I called prior to make sure they could cook my dinner in a separate pan and not on the grill. The person on the phone wasn't even sure what gluten was. Pretty much I had them explain what went in the fryer (sorry not GF as breaded appetizers go in the fryer with the French fries). I figured out that the only safe choice was meat/fish cooked in a separate pan and the green beans. I had a HUGE ribeye steak and green beans and a plain green salad (no dressing). It was delicious and I didn't get sick and I'm super sensitive. They took strict instructions for the chef and took my requests seriously. I'd definitely go back.
