My daughter was glutened here. The server confirmed that all the dishes we ordered were made gluten free, but she still got glutened. Just be careful.

I have Celiac and Star Noodle is a must stop when I’m In Lahaina.. I probably eat there 8-10 times a year for the past 5 years and have never gotten sick.. Granted, the GF menu is limited, but not in taste or quality. If you don’t want a long wait, MAKE RESERVATIONS!

Was actually really surprised based on prior reviews. The server walked down every item on the menu saying yes or no as it wasn’t marked.
LOVED this place and had many options. Got the pork belly, eggplant, salmon, and Singapore noodles.

We came here for dinner on a Sunday night. It was pretty busy and we ate outside. We had a reservation, as we had a large group. We were in Maui for a week and this is my least favorite meal because this just isn’t the type of food I like to eat. However, everyone else in the group enjoyed their meals, for the most part. While we were there, there was a film crew filming a commercial, I think, which was distracting and I think part of the reason why we didn’t have the greatest service. I was disappointed with their lack of gluten-free options, but it is to be expected as I am very picky in addition to being GF.

Got pad Thai and garlic noodles. For the garlic noodles they had to switch to rice noodles to make it gf. Pad Thai was ok, not great, garlic noodles were good. My sister and I (both with celiac) were fine after eating here.

After finally being able to get a reservation, we had lunch at Star Noodle today. We loved the outdoor space! Although the menu wasn’t marked, our server was well aware of GF options including: Beats and Pear Salad, Smashed Cucumber Salad, the Eggplant plate, Vietnamese Crepe, Miso Salmon, Bacon and Eggs, Pad Thai and Singapore Noodles. We had each thing listed with the exception of the beats/pear salad, eggplant and salmon. Everything was delicious!!!! Our favorite was the crepe. The different flavor combinations were spot on. We definitely will come back!

Stopped by on a whim on the way to Safeway and got lucky with seats at the bar. Planned to just have cocktails, but the bartender, Johnny, gave a thorough explanation of what would be GF (e.g. knew about tamari vs soy sauce) and was knowledgeable about cross contamination. Got the Vietnamese crepe, salmon and greens. Enjoyed our time and the food was delicious. Seems like others have had a mixed experience, but ours was positive.

The food was so much better when they were off the beaten list path. Now, it is a tourist trap. The food is safe, but I will not be back.

After reading reviews it was disappointing there was only limited gluten free items.
There are 7 items available for gluten free, however only 3 did not require substitutions.

Didn’t get any kind of official gluten free menu, but the waiter said the pad thai and two other noodle dishes could be made gluten free. I went with the pad thai and had no reaction. Not a lot of options, but it’s a small menu and even smaller restaurant. And overall, the food was decent but not really worth a return trip.

This place smelled amazing and the server was so honest, which I appreciated. She said they rinse the wok with water to clean it. It doesn’t get scrubbed, it doesn’t get soap, just a water rinse. She said she would t recommend eating there if contamination is an issue. There is guaranteed cross contamination. We decided to leave so my daughter wouldn’t get sick.

Super good! Staff was very helpful & knowledgeable about GF items. Unfortunately I did have a reaction from it. 😭 The food was super good though!
Sept '16: My absolute favorite meal on Maui, and we ate very very well for 8 days. Popular place - get a reservation! People were waiting upwards of 90 - 105 minutes (happily) without!
Vietnamese Crepe, Filipino Bacon and Eggs and Singapore Noodles were all AMAZING! Very tasty drinks, as well. I wish I could have tried EVERYTHING on the menu.
Staff were knowledgeable about GF/Celiac items. Note, you can also request to have your rice noodles cooked in a fresh pot of water, to reduce risk for cross contamination.
Update Dec '17: Returned and again had no issues. Literally tried every GF item on their menu (they do not have a GF menu, but the servers are knowledgeable and can point out all of the options)

Love this place so much but despite two trips and ordering GF items had strong reactions both visits. I think there is too much cross-contamination. Which is disappointing as I love their food and their concept.
Our waiter, Hans, was very personable and knowledgeable. He made great recommendations for us and knew what substitutions could be made to accommodate celiacs. We all thought the food was excellent and I experienced no reaction!

Our server was very understanding and knowledgeable about gluten and cross contamination. I felt very comfortable eating there. The food was great and I didn’t get sick!

We went for lunch. My husband and daughter are both celiac and my daughter is also dairy free. They gave us a couple of options and we ordered the Pad Thai and the Singapore noodles...both very good. They steamed shrimp and brought rice for our daughter. They are very aware here. We didn't have any trouble on Maui at all, in fact!

Went here while in Maui. The server will definitely show you what is gluten free and what is not. I'm not sure the contamination factor back in the kitchen but I have Celiac and was never sick. Reason for the 3 star was of the 4 people at our table, no one really even liked their meals. I would say it's safe to say there are better gluten free restaurants on the island for sure but if your party is set on going here I think you can rest assure it will be gluten free.

The crepes are amazing!! Had the pad Thai-- highly recommend!
Pad Thai noodles, Singapore noodles, and Vietnamese crepes! I got to eat all of this and I have celiac disease! I asked to talk with the chef and they have dedicated space in the kitchen and I did not get sick. It was wonderful!
Yes
Limited GF options and the food was kind of eh. We waited 90 min for a table, and I'm pretty sure I got exposed to gluten. (It was madness/so busy, and I think they cooked my noodles in shared water.) I would not do again. On the plus side, GF tamari was available.
No
The food was delicious and our waitress was very knowledgeable about what I could and couldn't have. I just didn't give them 5 stars because I got into gluten the day I went there and I don't know if it was from here or one of the other places we ate at. I really hope it wasn't them though because that food was amazing!
Food was pretty good, just minimal gf options.
We enjoyed the Vietnamese crepe... Delicious and GF...avoid the sweet chilli sauce.
Shared the Singapore noodles...great dish.
Go early or a long wait... Even with reservations....but worth it.
Truly fantastic food, knowledgeable servers, lots of GF options. Highly recommended!
The prior review was spot on; be prepared to wait at dinner time. Not sure what it's like during the day. Waitstaff was awesome. Our server was also gf. The Vietnamese crepes were the highlight. They usually have gf tamari, too. Cool vibe and good drinks. Best meal this week.
